Joseph Di Pietro, age 97, passed away at Crozer-Keystone Hospice on Saturday, July 29, 2017. He was a lifelong resident of Chester, PA, until his move to Plush Mills in Wallingfor­d in 2011.

Joe was an Army Veteran of WWII and served as a Staff Sergeant in the 4th Armored Division. He worked as a plasterer by trade and was a loyal Phillies fan. Besides baseball, he enjoyed several hobbies including playing cards, shooting pool, gardening, and cooking. He expressed his love through creation of Italian dishes from his family’s cultural traditions.

Joe was known as a man of great strength and determinat­ion. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret (nee Kelly). Joe had a strong bond with his family and was a loving brother to his siblings who predecease­d him. He is survived by his daughter Joan Heydorn and husband Bill of Lincoln Park, NJ, and by his son Bill Di Pietro and wife Beverly of Ridley Park, PA. Joe was also devoted to his grandsons Colin (with his wife Rachel) and Patrick Heydorn, his granddaugh­ter Brooke Di Pietro, his great-grandson Corbin Heydorn, and cherished friend Elizabeth Samuels. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation: Thursday, August 3rd, from 9:45 - 10:45 am St. Katharine Drexel Church, 1920 Providence Ave., Chester, PA. Funeral Mass: Thursday, August 3rd, at 11:00 am at St. Katharine Drexel Church. Interment: Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfiel­d, PA.
