Weise gets tricky, Agnes Irwin beats Radnor

Grace Weise’s hat trick powered the Agnes Irwin field hockey team to a 6-1 decision over Radnor Tuesday.

Emma Macaione and Emma van der Veen both tallied a goal and two assists for the Owls (1-0). Paige DiLullo finished with eight saves in goal.

Meredith Murphy and Kaci Hogarth both played an excellent field game for Agnes Irwin.

In other nonleague action: RIDLEY 2, INTERBORO 1 » Olivia Dorrin and Kerstin Axe scored a goal apiece in the first half and the Green Raiders’ defense did the rest. Megan Frame made six saves in net for Ridley. Molly Dowling accounted for the Bucs’ lone goal, while goalie Sophie Harley stopped seven shots. Lily Bonner and Jenna Schreiber played well on defense for the Bucs.

In other nonleague action: EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 4, ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 0 » Maddie Rehak, Gianna Pantaleo, Kelly Smith and Olivia Tuma had a goal each as the Churchwome­n blanked the Patriots (Mary Kate Kearney, eight saves). GARNET VALLEY 3, SUN VALLEY 0 » Claire Wolfe assisted on all three Garnet goals. Tina Rawa tallied both first-half goals and Emma Taviano added an insurance goal for the Jags. Jaclyn Prince made 28 saves for Sun Valley. GREAT VALLEY 4, STRATH HAVEN 2 » Olivia Fender got Haven’s first goal off a penalty stroke and Emily Raech scored off a corner. Kay Walker turned aside 14 shots in net for the Panthers.

In the Catholic Academies: SACRED HEART 5, ST. BASIL 2 » Bella Chan and Catie Gordon netted two goals each for the Lions. Hannah Seifried registered two assists and goalie Colleen Visser made four saves.

Volleyball

Molly Kieft posted seven aces to pace Academy of Notre Dame to a 3-0 nonleague victory over West Chester East. The Irish won the individual games by scores of 258, 25-16 and 25-9. Elise Butler had six kills and Reiley Shaak added six blocks for Notre Dame (2-0).

In the Catholic Academies League: SACRED HEART 3, ST. BASIL’S ACADEMY2» Hannah Martinson dished out 39 assists, Jaycee Webster had 18 kills and 10 digs, and Juliana Michniak added 12 kills and 12 digs to lead Sacred Heart (1-0, 1-0) in its season opener.

Girls Tennis

The doubles tandems of Mya Lockings-Glenna Gobeil and Mary Dooner-Lindsey Dowd each dropped the first set but both came back to win their matches in helping Sacred Heart down Nazareth Academy, 4-1.

Lockings and Gobeil lost the opening set 1-6 but closed out the next two winning 6-2, 6-4 while Dooner and Dowd lost the first 3-6 then won 6-0 in the second before finishing up with a 10-8 tiebreakin­g victory. In singles play, Marcella Marino rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the No. 1 singles match and Caroline Lewers won in straight sets in the No. 2 match.

Also in nonleague play: WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 7, SUN VALLEY0» Pauka Sy and Kaitlin Lynch took home two games in the second set of the No. 3 doubles match, and Devin Cronin won a game apiece in each set of the No. 1 singles match but it was not enough for the Vanguards.

In the Central League: GARNET VALLEY 7, PENNCREST 0» Chloe Thiveaud and Sophia Smith won the No. 2 and 3 singles matches in straight sets, and the doubles tandem of Annie DiClemente-Katja Law took home the No. 3 doubles match 6-1, 6-1 to finish off a commanding victory for the Jaguars. LOWER MERION 7, HAVERFORD 0 » Aasha Guta and Jenna Mancuso were the most impressive of the Aces’ double tandems, winning the No. 2 match 6-0, 6-0, but not far behind was the tandem of Amy Cunningham-Leanna Howard, who won 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 4 match. For the Fords (2-5, 0-1), Chloe Spergei claimed three games in the No. 3 singles match.

Boys Golf

The Luke boys helped Cardinal O’Hara to a 231-250 nonleague victory over Springfiel­d at par-36 Rolling Green Golf Club.

Luke Savage and Luke Pastore each carded a 45. Tom Carroll added a 47 for O’Hara (5-3).

Joe DeBernardi paced the with a 49.

In the Central League: HARRITON 206, STRATH HAVEN 220 » Kevin Smith scored nine pars on the way to leading the Panthers with a team-low 39 at Philadelph­ia Country Club. Ben Newlon carded a 43, while David Merz, Lukas Bernaus and Nick Cardow all finished with 46s.

Harriton’s Andrew Wallace bested all players with a 38. Cougars
