Memorials held around county in memory of 9/11
UPPER PROVIDENCE » Delaware County holds its annual Sept. 11 Remembrance Ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday at the Delaware County Law Enforcement and Fire & EMS Memorial in Rose Tree Park, 1671 N. Providence Road, Upper Providence.
Retired Coast Guard Fire Chief Chuck Burk serves as the keynote speaker. The ceremony includes laying of memorial wreaths for police, firefighters and first responders, for the victims of the attacks, and for the servicemen and woman who have given their lives in pursuit of freedom since the terrorist attacks. Delaware County first responders and law enforcement are recognized for their heroic actions during the ceremony.
All attendees are asked to arrive 20 minutes ahead of the ceremony. Parking is available on site and the memorials are handicap accessible.
Brandywine Battlefield
CHADDS FORD » Brandywine Battlefield holds Remembrance Ceremony in recognition of the 16th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the 240th anniversary of the Battle of Brandywine on Monday from 6-7 p.m. The event includes reenactors performing a musket salute, George Washington portrayed by living biographer Carl Closs, local politicians, and the ringing of the 9/11 bells. There is also a dedication of the new cannon carriage.
Aston Scouts
ASTON » Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops of Aston Township invite the public to their 16th annual Sept 11 Memorial Ceremony at 7 p.m. Monday. The ceremony is held at the township Memorial Garden at the Five Points intersection, Pennell, Concord and Knowlton roads.
