Penncrest keeps spotless record intact by blanking East

The Penncrest girls soccer team is making it look easy.

The Lions blanked a sixth consecutiv­e opponent with a 4-0 win Saturday at West Chester East. Boasting a 6-0-0 record, the Lions haven’t allowed a goal this season.

Bryn McLaughlin (four saves) recorded her sixth goose egg of the season.

Kenna Kaut, Katie Sparling, Carly Baillis and Corryn Gamber shared the goal-scoring duties with one apiece. RIDLEY 1, CARDINAL O’HARA 0 » Kayley Smith came through when Ridley needed her most, snapping a scoreless tie with 10 minutes left in regulation off of a corner kick from Naia Perry. Sydney Zimmerman notched 10 saves to earn the shutout. STRATH HAVEN 2, RUSTIN 1 » Liz DeCarlo’s goal in the 70th minute propelled the Panthers. Serena Elia also scored for Haven (4-2) and goalie Carly Perlman turned aside three shots. RADNOR 2, AGNES IRWIN 2 » Sophia Muettertie­s had both Radnor goals in a local rivalry that ended after two overtimes. CONESTOGA 1, UNIONVILLE 0 » Caitlin Donovan volleyed home a free kick in the second overtime period to lift the visiting Pioneers (5-0-1).

Maeve Regan and Klaiber combined for for ‘Stoga. ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 4, RADNOR 2 » Rachel Matey’s three-goal performanc­e powered the Patriots Friday night. Paige Mastripoli­to notched three assists.

Amanda Smith and Amanda Boppell each scored in the second half for the host Raiders.

Boys Soccer

Caroline six saves

Lansana Doumbouya had the scoring touch for Academy Park Saturday.

Doumbouya registered a hat trick to lead the Knights to victory, 3-1, over Upper Darby. One of Doumbouya’s tallies was off a penalty kick.

Amadou Fofana stopped six shots in net for the Knights (3-4).

In other nonleague games: PENN WOOD 2, GARNET VALLEY 1 » James Nmah scored both goals for the Patriots (4-1), including the game-winner in the 78th minute off an assist by Abdulia Barrie. Goodwill Agbaabem registered six saves between the posts.

Derek Yung accounted for Garnet Valley’s tally. STRATH HAVEN 5, KENNETT 4 » Nate Perrins was a scorer (two goals) and a facilitato­r (two assists) for the Panthers. Jon Kadoch, Emmett Young and Jordan Graves also scored, and goalie Noah Atsaves made seven saves. BONNER & PRENDERGAS­T 2, MARPLE NEWTOWN 1 » Kaito Kitazawa and Cillian Gilsenin scored for the Friars, and Tony Harper made eight saves for the win.

Luke Ciavardell­i tallied the lone goal for the Tigers. Dan Quimby made eight saves in goal.

Field Hockey

Emma van der Veen would not be denied.

The Agnes Irwin standout scored both goals in a 2-0 nonleague win over Ridley.

Paige DiLullo made three saves en route to the shutout, and Ellie Kirkpatric­k excelled on defense for the Owls.

Volleyball

Ridley didn’t go down quietly in a 3-2 nonleague loss to West Chester Henderson.

The Green Raiders lost the fiveset match by scores of 25-20, 2225, 20-25, 25-22 and 7-15. Melanie June (19 digs, three aces) and Angela April (14 digs, five kills) dominated on defense. Maria Brown added seven kills, and Jackie Kelly dished 18 assists. C.B. EAST 3, RIDLEY 0 » Jackie Kelly supplied 19 assists, and June posted 16 digs and five aces as the Green Raiders fell 17-25, 1625, 12-25. Riley Finnegan contribute­d 11 digs. NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 3, RADNOR 2» In a match Friday night, the Raiders lost a see-saw battle by scores of 14-25, 25-23, 13-25, 2523, 15-12.

Becca Goldberg (13 kills, three blocks) and Carleigh Goldstein (30 assists, four aces, three kills) and freshman Allie Broz (seven kills, five aces) paced the Radnor offense. Sam Scannipiec­co led the way defensivel­y with 25 digs, while Erica DiCarlo added 12 digs. CARDINAL O’HARA SWEEPS » Maeve Boylan filled up the stat sheet as the Lions blanked Haverford (25-18, 25-15, 25-19) and Avon Grove (25-17, 25-20, 25-23) to remain undefeated. Boylan collected 26 assists, 12 digs, 10 kills, 8 aces and four blocks in the two games.

Lauren Garvey added 14 kills, 10 aces and 15 digs. Breanna Hickey chipped in with 17 kills, five aces and 24 digs for the Lions (5-0).

Girls Tennis

Top-seeded Saige Roshkoff of Harriton completed her run through the Central League singles tournament with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over second-seeded Cassidy Landau of Conestoga. Roshkoff lost a total of five games in four matches en route to the league title.

Fourth-seeded Cecilia Angert Denis from Lower Merion topped third seeded Kanon Ciarrocchi of Radnor, 2-6, 6-0, retired, for third place.

Eighth-seeded Priya Aravindhan from Conestoga topped sixthseede­d Emma Lee of Strath Haven in the fifth-place match, 6-0, 6-0. Unseeded Shaina Ginsberg from Harriton defeated seventhsee­ded Lucy Hederick from Radnor for seventh place, 6-0, 6-2.

The top six finishers automatica­lly qualify for the District 1 tournament.
