IT’S ALWAYS SOMETHING

Donald Trump has said that Rex Tillerson is wasting his time trying to negotiate with the North Koreans. This is another clear example of his lack of fitness for the office of president.

TAKE A HIKE, JEN

I agree with the caller about “The Voice” and Jennifer Hudson. I love “The Voice,” but with her on it, I chose not to care about watching it so much. She’s a show off and does act like it is her show.

BRING BACK GWEN

THOSE WERE THE DAYS

Phil Heron had a great column this week. He had the nail on the head, and I remember those days.

MAN WITH IT ALL

Saquon Barkley is probably the greatest football player I’ve seen. I’ve been following college football all my life. He reminds me of Barry Sanders, and that’s going back a ways. His acceleration; he can pass, he can run, he can block – he is the Heisman winner.

SELFISH IN SPRINGFIELD

I’ve been staying on top of the Springfield High School plans in the Daily Times on a regular basis, and I’ll tell you – you can do a lot worse than Springfield. These weeping willows are all moaning and groaning about the school are being very selfish because of something that might affect them, but what about the kids? And down the road, people are going to want to go to this state-of-theart high school, which is going increase your property values.

SATISFIED IN SPRINGFIELD

GRAB THOSE GUNS

If our founding fathers could have envisioned the arsenal Stephen Paddock had, they would never have penned the Second Amendment. As a matter of fact, the Second Amendment that they did pen has nothing to do with people having arsenals of guns; it’s talking about owning a gun as part of “a well-regulated militia.” Only the truly stupid in this country believe the Second Amendment gives them the right to own arsenals of guns.

MORE PRO-GUN GOBBLEDYGOOK

I think my favorite gun control argument I’ve heard again this week is their emotionally driven, self-contradicting reading of the Second Amendment. So the founders didn’t want people to have military-grade weapons? What do you think civilian-owned muskets were at the time of the Bill of Rights? As for today’s military-grade weapons, they’ve been practically outlawed since 1986 and 99.9 percent of the population doesn’t own them. For the sake of argument, let’s assume they’re correct and the “well-regulated militia” leftist part is the key part of the amendment. In the 1790s and to this day, a militia is a citizen group that arms itself with privately owned weapons. “Wellregulated” in the 1790s meant properly working, not as in “government regulations.”

UP IN SMOKE

Have you noticed that the more they decriminalized marijuana over the last few years, the more our drug epidemic has grown?

ONE WHO CARES

UNITED AGAINST TRUMP

I see Donald Trump wants everyone to come together and unite in support and compassion for one another. Maybe he should take the first step and quit insulting, belittling, maligning, humiliating, threatening and bullying everyone who says something he doesn’t like that. That would be a good start.

WHAT A HYPOCRITE

TREASON SEASON

I know it’s of upmost concern for the United States government, because it has for the investigative committee, to find out what Donald Trump and his entourage were up to before the election and after the election. We’re seriously trying to find out whether the president and the people trying to lead this country concluded with the Russians. But you know what – has anybody figured out who hacked Equifax yet? That kind of seems more important to me. What do you think?
