Delco Hi-Q marks 70 years with celebrity tournament Nov. 14

To commemorat­e the 70th anniversar­y of Delco Hi-Q, the nation’s oldest continuous academic quiz competitio­n, FMFCU Partners in Education and Delaware County Intermedia­te Unit kick off the milestone season with Celebrity Hi-Q, a fun competitio­n featuring local celebritie­s and a team of current Hi-Q All Stars.

Neumann University hosts the event in their Bruder Life Center on Tuesday, Nov. 14, beginning with a meet and greet reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by opening remarks at 6:30. General admission seating is limited and available through online registrati­on for a $10 donation to Partners in Education, a501(c)(3) organizati­on.

Schoolhous­e Center visits Kimmel Center

RIDLEY TOWNSHIP » Schoolhous­e Center, 600 Swarhmore Ave., Folsom, is booking a trip to the Kimmel Center in Philadelph­ia to hear Joshua Bell in concert with the Philadelph­ia Orchestra on Sunday, Feb. 18. Cost of $85 includes orchestra level tickets, bus and all gratuities.

The program is Wieniawski- Violin Concerto, No. 2 and Shostakovi­ce – Symphony No. 7 also known as “the Leningrad.” Attendees would park at Schoolhous­e at 600 Swarthmore Ave., leave at 12:30 p.m and return by 5. The society museum and education center, 659 Smithbridg­e Road, holds its last opening for the year on Sunday, Oct. 22. from 1-4 p.m., followed by a dedication of Anna’s Garden, a renovation of the garden donated in honor of Anna Willits who lived at our site, by an Eagle Scout.
