Howard D. Profitt, 89, formerly of Upper Chichester passed away on October 4th at Christiana Hospital. He was born in Boothwyn to the late Ernest and Martha Profitt. He was a merchant marine as well as a veteran of the US Army, with whom he played football in the first division of the European Theatre of Operations. Howard served in both WWII and the Korean War. He worked for 42 years for the Sinclair Oil Company. He was the head of the Sinclair Athletic Associatio­n. He was also a founding member of the Chichester Crusaders and the Marcus Hook Vikings. Howard was the owner, operator and coach of the Marcus Hook Oilers for many years.

He was predecease­d by 6 brothers, George, Fran, Fred, Ernest, James and Ronald; 1st wife, Shirley Profitt; grandson, Howard Profitt, III. He is survived by his children, Howard, Jr., Patricia Neall(John), Karen Savage(James), Michael(Candy), and George; Wife, Edna; 8 grandchild­ren and several great-grandchild­ren; Siblings, Ruth Pursh, Mildred DiMaio, Ann Profitt, Nancy Profitt, Tom, Phil, and Bob Profitt.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 10th at 11am. Friends and family are invited to his viewing on Monday evening from 6:308:30 and again on Tuesday morning from 1011am.
