Paul S. Homan, 76, of Garnet Valley, PA, formerly of Springfiel­d, PA passed away peacefully on October 10, 2017 at home, of ALS.

Born in Oak Park, IL and raised in Cincinnati, OH, Paul was a graduate of Xavier University. He began his career, right out of college, with Strawbridg­e & Clothier Department Stores, where he went on to become Director of Human Resources.

Devoted to his Catholic faith, Paul was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi in Springfiel­d, PA and currently a member of the Church of the Holy Child in North Wilmington. Paul served as a Eucharist Minister at both parishes. In retirement, he devoted his time to helping the poor. He spent many years as Volunteer Director for City Team Ministries in Chester. Other volunteer positions included being a board member at Lutheran Knolls, and driving a van weekly to pick up food for Sunday Breakfast Mission in Wilmington. Paul was a longtime member of the Ignatius Lay Volunteer Group, whose mission was helping the poor. In addition, he was active in the Foxfield Community, where he resided for the past 10 years. Also, Paul had a passion and skill for planning travel adventures throughout the U.S. and Europe.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ann Newton Homan, his wife of 40 years, Cecilia Ratke Homan and brother, David Homan.

He is survived by his wife, Maryann M. Monville Homan, sons, Christophe­r (Deirdre) Homan and Mark (Kerri) Homan, daughter, Marcie (Jonathan) Heil. Also, he is survived by sisters, Kathryn McDonough and Carol Huber, and his grandchild­ren, Sean, Jessica, Amanda, Alanna, Matthew, J. P., Katie, Aisling and Allie. Paul is also survived by Maryann’s children and grandchild­ren.

A viewing will be held on Sunday night, 6-8PM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA and again on Monday, 9-10AM at the Pagano Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will take place Monday, 10:30AM at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Rd., Wilm., DE. Interment, S.S. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfiel­d, PA.
