ON GUARD

I’d like to add to the caller talking about the YMCA in Lansdowne: Chris is friendly, funny, smart and always has his eye on everybody in the pool. He’s one of the nicest guys you’d ever want to meet and he’s a great lifeguard. JACK FROM THE Y

ROLL THE DICE

More gambling in Pennsylvania is not going to solve the budget issue. Take a look at New Jersey – they have online gambling. And how many casinos are actually left down in Atlantic City? And what is Pa. going to do when casinos start closing? Some casinos are barely making it now as it is, because they already want too much in taxes from them – especially in Delaware County. The state needs other sources for steady income, and they need to learn to live within their budget like everybody else does. TAXED OUT

GROOVY

I’d like say congratulations to Sun Valley band. I understand they’re the Band of the Week on 99.5 WJBR. I think that’s just great and the band does good job. GO MARCHING VANGUARDS!

MANAGING THE NEWS

I was reading Friday’s Times after more details came out about the Steele dossier and the Uranium scandal, and not one word was in the Times. Isn’t that amazing? More managed news. We’re still buying it, though. CONCERNED READER

THERE GOES JOBS

I see Walmarts are going to have robots in their stores now to check on items. This is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard of. This is why there’s no jobs, people are out of work, and the country is in bad shape. When is this country going to wise up to get back to the good old days of hard, sweaty work again? This is what we need in America – not robots. This country is in trouble.

WAR BOARDS

Good for Mr. Wolk in the Lower Merion School District. He should get a lot more support in his battle with the school board. Anyone who benefits from what he is doing should step forward and show their support. More of these school boards should be put on notice their days are numbered if they don’t try to hold the line on taxes. Some of the boards in this area of Delaware County should be ousted for their use of taxpayer money. Wake up, taxpayers, and take heed of what is going on around you. HEADS UP

BLAME GAME

Just imagine if two selfdriving cars get into an accident. Who is to blame? Surely not the driver because there is no driver in a self-driving automobile. Who does the auto insurance companies charge – the car manufacturer? Just imagine how low your insurance rates will go. This surely will end up in the courts and it ought to be fun to watch! J.D. MOVIE BLUES

I remember going to the movies and it was like $2.50 to get in – and that was for the good movies back then. Now they want $10 or $12 for a movie. I wouldn’t pay a dime to see them because they stink today. The older movies were the best and the prices were good. I used to go to the Media Theatre for Saturday afternoon matinee. It was 25 cents; they showed the good old sci-fi movies of the ‘50’s and ‘60’s and they were well worth it. I’ll tell you, I don’t know what this world is coming to but I wouldn’t pay a dime to see these stinking movies and actors and actresses today.

FEELS LIKE A MILLION

What does it tell you when the median net worth of the average American is around $80,000, but the median that worth of a person in congress is about $2 million? They really understand what most people have to do for a living, right? They’re all millionaires, and they’re passing laws and trying to tell us working people how to survive. Why don’t they put most of their money into some blind trust for about 10 years and try to live on what the average American has to live on yearly? Maybe then they would get it through their thick skulls that they don’t have a clue.
