Volunteer info session Thursday
MEDIA » Those who have some free time, want to volunteer but don’t know where to start may consider the many opportunities RSVP offers. RSVP, a multi-service nonprofit organization meeting the needs of the community through volunteerism, holds an upcoming Volunteer Information Session at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Media Borough Hall, 301 N. Jackson St.
More than 1,200 adults are actively volunteering in their communities through RVSP. For over 40 years, the organization has been helping adults find just the right challenge. RSVP programs impact disadvantaged preschool children, at-risk youth, the elderly, those with low reading and STEM literacy skills and nonprofit organizations through rewarding volunteer opportunities such as Adult Literacy, Family literacy, America Reads, and MY Free Tutor, an innovative, virtual math and science program.
Because RSVP knows the needs within the community, they can create a meaningful match for volunteers whether they want a long or short term assignment. RSVP matches volunteers’ skills, interests and availability and offers free training as needed.
Throughout the region, RSVP volunteers are making a difference in the lives of so many of the most vulnerable in our communities. By giving back, volunteers enhance not only the lives of those whom they help, but their own as well.
