Seniors’ seven goals earn Irish another league title

The senior members of Notre Dame’s field hockey team were ready for their final home game of the regular season.

After being honored in a ceremony before the game, the seniors combined for seven goals and three assists as the Irish rolled over Penn Charter, 10-1, to clinch their second straight Inter-Ac League title.

Ava Leonhardt and Taylor Morrison led the seniors with two goals each, while Tina D’Anjolell, Sarah Quigley and Riley Maher pitched in with one goal and one assist apiece. Mia Leonhardt finished with one goal and three assists, while Lauren Curran also handed out three assists.

Senior Kate Liebeskind split time in goal with Paige Kleft to get the win for the Irish (14-2-3 overall, 9-0-1 Inter-Ac), who are the No. 1 seed in the PAISAA Tournament.

Elsewhere in the Inter-Ac: AGNES IRWIN 3, SPRINGSIDE CHESTNUT HILL 0 » Sydney Wolfington powered the offense with one goal and two assists. Emma Macalone and Grace Weise also scored, while Brynne Pergolini and Kacy Hogarth stood out on defense in front of goalie Paige DiLullo (two saves).

Niklas Golz had a day as The Haverford

School pulled away in the second half to beat Germantown Academy, 4-1, in the Inter-Ac League.

Golz fed Nick Pippis in the first half for the Fords’ first goal, and then converted passes from Will Micheletti and Dan Calvelli for the final two scores of the day. An unassisted goal from Danyal Burhan in the second half put the Fords up to stay.

Bobby Stratts and Will Boyes made two and three saves, respective­ly, in goal for the Fords (78-3, 3-5-1).

In other Inter-Ac action: EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 3, SPRINGSIDE CHESTNUT HILL 1» Single goals from Samuel Wilson (Billy Hoy assist), Gabirelle Furey and Declan McCarthy (both unassisted) powered the Churchmen (19-2-1, 6-2-1).

Trevor Manion made two saves in goal to get the win.
