Francis “Frank” J. Kobasic
Francis “Frank” J. Kobasic, 98, of Springfield, PA, died peacefully on November 6, 2017.
He was born in Hermansville, MI on August 3, 1919, to John and Sophie Kobasic.
Frank was an avid musician and performed with his brothers in the Ivan Kobasic Orchestra in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and surrounding states. He enlisted in the Army in 1943 and served in the Special Services Unit in Atlantic City, NJ, where he met his future wife, Mariann (nee Staley), who was volunteering with the Red Cross. Frank continued to perform for his fellow troops and civilians, and performed locally for more than 40 years.
An engineer and inventor, Frank held two U.S. patents on products related to industrial safety and reducing workplace injury.
Frank worked as the Plant Superintendent for Medford’s Meats in Chester, PA and retired in 1984. He was preceded in death by Mariann after a 62-year marriage and by their daughter Diana (Sheehan). Frank is survived by his sons, Daniel (Linda) and George (Joan); six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
His Visitation will be Saturday, November 11th at 9:30 a.m. followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 136 Saxer Ave., Springfield, PA 19064.
There will be a private burial.
