Learn Ridley history, get aging info
RIDLEY TOWNSHIP » Join the Ridley Township Library, 100 E. MacDade Blvd., Folmsom, at 6:45 p.m. Tuesdays Nov. 14 and 21 when local historian Keith Lockhart presents programs on the early (Nov. 14) and later (Nov. 21) history of Ridley Township. The series is illustrated with original photos on interesting facts like how Norwood, Prospect Park, Glenolden, Eddystone, Rutledge and Ridley Park were once part of the township.
These historical lectures are part of the celebration in honor of Ridley Township Library’s 60th anniversary. Keith Lockhart is a lifelong Ridley resident, and a retired Ridley Township Police Officer. A graduate of Penn State University, he has written numerous booklets on the history of the area and for years wrote a history column for Town Talk. He has also contributed to both the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Daily Times. In 30 years of collecting, Lockhart has amassed one of the largest collections of Delaware County historical memorabilia.
These free programs are held in Garling Hall. Registration is requested; walkins are also welcomed.
Visit the library at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, when Taylor Hospice presents a “Navigating Aging” program. Rebecca Smith-Wallace, MSW, and Marilee Ciarmella, RN, from Taylor Hospice show a powerpoint presentation to provide information, covering various issues such as the importance of wills, designating a Power of Attorney, knowing the many organizations available to reach out to for support, and many more essential learning tools.
Participants gather together and talk about the many different important topics related to the preparation of aging, and to discuss concerns and questions in a relaxed and open forum. Registration is required for this free program, which is held in the lower library meeting room.
To register for the above programs, call 610-5830593, email reference@ridleylibrary.org or stop by the library. Walk-ins are also welcomed.
