LIGHTS CONTEST
Ridley Park Borough will hold its second annual Christmas Light contest. Residents may call Borough Hall at 610-532-2100 to enter their houses. All homes will be judged Dec. 15-17, and the winner will be announced at the Dec. 19 council meeting. The first place winner will receive four tickets to the Liberty One Observation Deck, along with bragging rights.
ART EXHIBIT
A Holiday Exhibition will be held at MAC Gallery, 609-B W. State St., Media, Nov. 23 until Dec. 23, for an opportunity to buy fine art for holiday gift-giving. Gallery artists and guest artists will display their work. Gallery hours are Thurs.Sat., 4-7 p.m.,with special hours 12-5 p.m. on Nov. 2426. LETTERS TO SANTA
Children can drop off their letters to Santa anytime before Wed., December 20 into a special red mail receptacle outside of Unique Boutique, 25 E. State St. in Media. Santa will write back to every child, free of charge.
ABRUZZESE DELCO PARTY
Associazione Regionale Abruzzese Delco will hold its annual Christmas Party 3-7 p.m. Sun., Dec. 17 at the Heritage Ballroom, 2107 MacDade Blvd., Holmes. Music and entertainment will be provided by Moreno Fruzzetti. A buffet dinner will include a Porchetta, wine, beer and a cash bar. BREAKFAST WITH SANTA
Media Lions Club will hold its annual all-you-caneat Breakfast With Santa 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon Sat., Dec. 9 at VFW Post 346, 11 Hilltop St., Media. Admission is a $10 donation, with tickets for kids under 10 costing $5 and free for under 3-years-old. The event will feature music, food, fun, and special surprises for the children. WINTER WONDERLAND
The Media Recreation Board will hold its third annual Winter Wonderland from 1-3 p.m. Sun., Nov. 26 in the Community Center. Santa will be available for pictures. There will be hot chocolate, coffee, tea, and cookies served. Each child will be given a book from Santa. The event is free to all Media Borough residents.

Gateway Community Church, 708 S. Old Middletown Rd., Middletown Twp., will show the movie “Elf” for upper elementary/ middle school youth from 2-5 p.m., Sat., Dec. 2. CANTERBURY MARKET
St. James Episcopal Church,11th and Lincoln Ave., Prospect Park, will hold its annual Canterbury Market 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sat., Nov. 25. The event will feature a cookie walk with over 25 homemade varieties of cookies, as well as a tea room, lunch room, Bake and soup table, silent auction, white elephant, tired jewelry, 50-50 drawing, lottery wreath, raffles and more. For children, there will be a craft table, face painting, games and gingerbread man decorating. Pictures with Santa will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
TOY DRIVE
The Ridley Township Commissioners, the Ridley Township Police Department and the Collingdale Borough Police Department will jointly hold their second annual Toys For Tots holiday toy drive, in partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sun., Dec. 17 at the Ridley Community Center, 801 Morton Ave., Folsom. The public can drop off new, unwrapped toys to make the holidays brighter for area children in need.
WINTER BALL
Holy Family Regional Catholic School will hold a Winter Ball 7-11 p.m. Sat., Dec. 2 in St. Joseph’s Degnan Hall, 3255 Concord Rd., Aston. Phillies Broadcaster Ben Davis, Class of ‘91, will serve as emcee. Sponsorships are available. Tickets cost $5 and will include hors d’oeuvres, catered Ddnner, wine and beer,dessert bar, DJ, dancing, entertainment, photographs, photo booth and awards. A silent auction and 50-50 raffle will also take place. UNDERGROUND RAILROAD
Local historian Nancy Webster will present “Songs of the Underground Railroad” 7 p.m. Wed., Nov. 29 in the Council Room at the Swarthmore Library. Webster has worked for social justice causes since her youth. She was shot and jailed while helping to register voters on Eastern Shore Maryland in 1964. A highly engaging speaker, Nancy Webster was named Delaware County Historian in 1988. A Delaware County native, Webster holds a BA from Harvard, and a double MA in American history and museum curatorship from the College of William and Mary. The program is free and open to the public.
