Caroline Boornazian, Haverford:
It’s not often that a sophomore leads a team in goals, but that’s exactly what Boornazian did for the Fords. The forward/ midfielder scored 18 times and was one of three players on the team with double digits goals. She also had two assists to earn first-team All-Central League honors. Yet she was more than just a finisher. He stick skill drew many penalty corners for a team that went 17-4 overall, 10-1 in the Central League and the No. 4 seed in the District 1 Class 3A playoffs. Boornazian scored at least one goal in 13 games.
Carly Brosious, Bonner & Prendergast:
Brosious was the second straight Panda to earn Catholic League MVP honors. The senior forward scored 17 goals and handed out 14 assists to lead MBAP to its first PCL title since 2009. She came up big in big games. Brosious had two goals in MBAP’s 3-2 win over Carroll in the regular season and then factored into all three goals as the Pandas topped the Patriots in overtime, 3-2, to win the Catholic League title. Brosious set up the tying goal and scored the winner. She finished with 41 goals and 27 assists in her a career and will attend Rider University.
Katie Capalbo, Strath Haven:
Capalbo had quite a career for the Panthers. She was a four-year starter and a threetime first-team All-Central League selection. As a senior, the Villanova-bound forward scored 17 goals and handed out 13 assists to pace Strath Haven to the quarterfinal round of the District 1 Class 2A tournament. She scored the first goal as the Panthers beat Harriton, 3-1, in the district playoffs to avenge a loss to the Rams during the regular season.
Sydney Corcoran, Haverford:
Corcoran was the driving force behind a team that went 10-1 in the Central League for the second year in a row. The only loss was to Conestoga. Her play at center midfield was critical to Haverford’s drive to the quarterfinal round of the District 1 Class 3A tournament. Corcoran led the team in assists (nine) and finishing third in goals (10). However, she was far from a one-dimensional player. The junior also turned in strong defense when she was asked to play center back on a few occassions. She is headed to Old Dominion.
Lauren Devletian, Episcopal Academy:
As the center back, Devletian was the heart of the EA defense. Her skill and patience were key to EA’s success. Devletian had 11 defensive saves and countless other defensive stops. She also was the catalyst in transitioning the ball from defense to the attack for a team that went 17-4-1 and finished second in the Inter-Ac, and was the designated shooter on penalty strokes. Devletian, a junior, earned first-team all-league honors and has committed to Dartmouth.
Tina D’Anjolell, Notre Dame:
D’Anjolell’s versatility may have been her best quality. She could play up front or in the midfield and was instrumental in an attack that averaged 5.77 goals per game. The senior finished with 15 goals and 22 assists to lead Notre Dame to its second straight Inter-Ac and PAISAA championships. She is headed to Michigan.
Mia Leonhardt, Notre Dame:
The sophomore midfielder was at her best in the PAISAA championship game. She scored 13 goals and had seven assists as the Irish topped Academy of the New Church (10-0), Agnes Irwin (8-0) and Germantown Academy (10-2) to win their second straight Independent Schools title. Leonhardt tallied a game record six goals and had three assists in the final over GA. Leonhart was second on the team in goals (25) and first in assists (22) to earn first-team All-InterAc honors and help ND to its second straight league title. She has committed to North Carolina.
Maddie Rehak, Episcopal Academy:
Rehak’s speed and stick skills made her dangerous on the attack. The junior forward led the Churchwomen with 52 points on 22 goals and eight assists. She was the insert on the penalty corner unit and was a first-team All-Inter-Ac League selection. Rehak also plays lacrosse and is a member of the girls track team.
Gianna Pantaleo, Episcopal Academy:
Pantaleo teamed with Rehak to form one of the top attack units in the county. The junior forward was dangerous on the attack
as she amassed 48 points on 18 goals and 12 assists to earn first-team All-Inter-Ac League honors. She was the shooter on penalty corners and her strong elimination skills made her an asset on defense. has committed to Boston College.
Sarah Jane Quigley, Notre Dame:
Like D’Anjolell and Mia Leonhardt, Quigley’s versatility allowed her to play up front or in the midfield for the Irish. The senior captain scored 12 goals and dished out 16 assists to pace Notre Dame to back-to-back Inter-Ac League and PAISAA championships. She will play at Michigan.
Kay Walker, Strath Haven:
The senior goalkeeper was the backbone of a defense that powered the Panthers to the quarterfinal round of the PIAA District 1Class 2A tournament. She had a save percentage of 88.0 and made 16 stops as Strath Haven avenged a loss to Harriton in the regular season with a 3-1 triumph over the Rams in the second round of the district tournament.
