‘Big Daddy’ Graham bringing Christmas show to Swarthmore
Radio personality and comedian “Big Daddy” Graham will be performing in “A Row Home Christmas” at the Players Club of Swarthmore Dec. 22-31.
The play, written by and starring Graham, follows his wildly successful “Last Call,” an autobiographical piece about his relationship with his father that sold out several Philadelphia-area theaters. “A Row Home Christmas” is directed by Anthony San Filippo.
In the play, Kevin (Graham), a Philadelphia firefighter who still volunteers to play Santa Claus at the same neighborhood church parish in which he grew up, sneaks into a familiar home in that neighborhood on Christmas Eve to reflect on holiday memories from his time growing up in Philadelphia. In the process, Kevin has a holiday experience that will change his life forever.
“A Row Home Christmas” runs for eight performances Dec. 22-31. All shows begin at 8 p.m. except for the closing performance on Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. The preview will take place Dec. 20, at 7:30 p.m.
In addition, several of Big Daddy Graham’s friends from the world of radio, comedy and Philadelphia sports will host the show and join Graham and San Filippo in live talkbacks with the audience after each performance.
The Players Club of Swarthmore’s improvisational comedy team Bits & Pieces will perform a free show on the stage immediately following the Dec. 30 performance.
