Enter annual bookmark design contest in Aston by Feb. 28
ASTON » Aston Public Library, 3720 Concord Road, holds its annual Aston Public Library Bookmark Design Contest for students grades K-8. An entry form can be picked up at the library or downloaded at the library website. The deadline is Feb. 28. The winnerss work will be displayed at the library.
The Kids Can Build Club meets at the library on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. Children can learn to build things using the library’s Lego collection and other materials. All ages are welcomed.
Jitterbugs Music & Movement visits the library at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30. All ages are welcomed. During the story time, children listen to stories and participate in movement activities such as singing, dancing, experimenting with instruments, and playing bean bag and parachute games.

Get houseplant answers Feb. 7
SWARTHMORE » Swarthmore Public Library, welcomes James Verdi, founder of the Houseplant Hospital in Swarthmore, to share his expertise on how to best care for houseplants at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, in the Council Room of the Swarthmore Borough Hall, 121 Park Ave.
Verdi discusses how to choose the right plant for the right place and develop the maintenance practices enable houseplants to thrive. After a short

Book It! 5k returns in April
Helen Kate Furness Library and Swarthmore Public Library hold their second Book It! 5K Walk/Run to celebrate their libraries and communities on Saturday, April 7. Registration is now open with an early bird $30 price.
The point to point course starts at Wallingford train station at 9:30 a.m. and ends at Swarthmore Public Library. After the race, there are activities for families and an awards ceremony in Central Park next to the library.
This year, runners are encouraged to join the “crazy hat” theme for the run — e.g., a snowman hat, a flamingo beret or an oversize metallic top hat. There is a Best Crazy Hat prize for the silliest hat.

Norwood celebrates Grandparents Day
NORWOOD » Norwood Public Library, 513 Welcome Ave., holds a Grandparents and Me Day fundraiser from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18. The library celebrates Grandparents and Me Day with activities and treats for children and their grandparents or special grown-up. Activities include rock painting, fun games, special book reading, photos and more.

Film fest in Concord
CONCORD » Garnet Valley High School alumnus and Temple University senior Paul Krueger presents a film festival at the Rachel Kohl Library, 687 Smithbridge Road, Glen Mills, from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20. The festival features top student films from the Philadelphia Area.
TX Body: Paul Krueger’s film “The Test,” based on Charles Carfagno’s book series “A Demon’s Quest,” headlines the festival. Admission is free and light food and refreshments are served.
Book, CD deliveries from Norwood
NORWOOD » In keeping with the Norwood Public Library’s mission to serve our library patrons without exception, it is offering a free library materials delivery service for patrons who reside in the Norwood area and are homebound due to prolonged illness, disability, age or any other reason that prevents them from traveling to the library.
The homebound service involves delivery of library books and/or books on CD. Homebound patrons may request a certain type of reading or listening material, such as romance, mystery or non-fiction, as well as specific titles and authors. For those who do not want to choose the items themselves, the staff is happy to select something and work to meet reading and informational.

Each season the group reads non-fiction and fiction on a certain topic or era. This winter, the books are “One Summer, America 1927” by Bill Bryson. For the next meeting in February, the group reads from a selection of non-fiction and fiction about 1920s America.

The library holds a Detoxify Your Beauty Routine program at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23. Learn how to navigate the beauty and personal care product industry to make safer, less toxic choices. Join Amanda Schwinn and Jessica Brennan of Beautycounter to learn about the lack of regulation of the industry, what to avoid in products, and the new bipartisan Personal Care Products Safety Act being considered.

The library hosts two cancer support groups this winter on Saturday mornings at 10:30 a.m.: Cancer CONNECT, and Caregivers CONNECT. Cancer CONNECT is open to those with a current diagnosis of cancer and those that recently completed cancer treatments as well as their families, and meets Saturdays Jan. 20, Feb. 3, 17, March 17, and 31. Caregivers CONNECT is open to caregivers and family members of cancer patients and meets Saturdays, Jan. 27, Feb. 10 and 24, March 10 and 24.
