Street’s 3rd straight hat trick helps AP to another win

Riley Street capped one of the most satisfying weeks of her high school lacrosse career with a victory.

The Academy Park senior produced her third hat trick of the week to spark the Knights to an 8-7 victory over Delaware County Christian School in nonleague action Friday. AP also won its third consecutiv­e game.

Madison Vavala scored with 2:50 remaining to put a scare into Academy Park. But the day belonged to Street and her teammates, Shayna Flory adding three goals, Danielle Balogh and Hanna Rief one each.

Goalie TaeJa Chambers-Jackson stopped 16 shots for Academy Park, Isabelle Brewster 10 for Delaware County Christian.

Monica Lebaudy led DCS with four goals, and Braedyn Thompson added a pair.

Boys lacrosse

T.J. Malone scored four goals and goalie Harrison Fellheimer recorded 11 saves to lead Haverford School to a 10-5 win over Penn Charter in Inter-Ac action.

Malone chipped in two assists, Scott Deck three goals for the Fords. Goalie Sage Garito added three saves.

Luke Brogan led Penn goals. EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 10, MALVERN 8 » Charlie Cunniffe totaled three goals and one assists for the visiting Churchmen. Gabe Furey added two goals, and Jack Henderson won 17 of 22 faceoffs.

Charter two

Pitcher Clay Corcimigli­a helped himself with 2-for-2 and Robert Lucas had a big day at the plate to lead Delaware County Christian School to a 17-2 victory over Penn Wood in nonleague action.

Lucas was a home run short of hitting for the cycle as he drilled three hits, including a double and a triple.

Michael Ranger Penn Wood. FRIENDS SELECT 6, ACADEMY PARK 2 » Barry Brown slugged two hits and drove in two runs but it couldn’t offset three errors and some gnarly baserunnin­g by the Knights.

Matt Thomas added two hits for the Knights (2-4), who had four runners picked off.

In Inter-Ac action: EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 5, PENN CHARTER 3 » Isaiah Payton went 1-for-1 with two walks and a run scored to pace EA.

Daniel Kane was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Will Park added one hit and one ribbie for belted a with home run for the Churchmen.

Pitcher Taylor Schaible got the win. MALVERN PREP 15, HAVERFORD SCHOOL 4 » Leadoff batter Chris Newell went 3-for-3 with three homers to power Malvern. Newell starred on the Newtown-Edgmont 13-yearold squad that won the Babe Ruth world series in 2014.

Connor Dissin, Brady Devereux and Cam Conley also went yard for Prep.

Justin Meyer and Logan Keller homered for the Fords (6-4).

Softball

Upper Darby rallied for an improbable Central League victory over Haverford.

The Royals managed only one hit on the afternoon, but were aided by four seventh-inning errors en route to a 7-6 decision. Backto-back bases-loaded walks were followed by a hit by pitch to cut Haverford’s 5-0 lead to two. Two fielding miscues enabled the Royals to take a 6-5 lead with two outs. Rylee Shanahan then provided her team’s lone hit, an RBI double to make it 7-5.

Haverford kicked up a fuss in the bottom of the seventh inning, and had the tying runner at third base with one out, but couldn’t cash in.

Ali Murphy and Hope Coacher (two RBIs) each provided a pair of hits for Haverford. Anna Mefford doubled home two runs.

In the Inter-Ac League: NOTRE DAME 4, BALDWIN 1 » Sophia Haub crushed a three-run homer to give the Irish the lead in the fourth inning.

Sophia Marlino finished 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Grace Jackson gave another strong performanc­e from the circle, allowing just three hits while striking out 11 in the complete game. Freshman Brooke McKeown excelled defensivel­y at shortstop.

In nonleague action: DELCO CHRISTIAN 5, PENN WOOD 4 » Kendall Clarke came through with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh as the Knights walked off against the Patriots. Abbi Heacock racked up eight strikeouts to earn the win. Kira Berol chipped in with a run-scoring hit. CARDINAL O’HARA 6, PENNCREST 1 » Alyssa Daly was 2-for-3 with a triple, while Julia Kush and Grace Hussey each added a single, an RBI and two runs scored for O’Hara (4-0). Allison Ahearn collected two hits, including a double, and drove in a run. Jenna Smith pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts.

Julia Eckels was 2-for-4 with a run scored for Penncrest. All-Delco ace Maya Hartman struck out eight.

Boys Tennis

Great Valley swept the singles and won at first doubles to defeat The Haverford School, 4-3, in noneleague action.

Sameer Gangoli, Sam Kest and Nikhil Gangoli all won in straight sets to spark the Patriots.

Amish Siani and Ryan Hamel beat Julius Golz and Emilio Fink, 6-2, 6-0, to complete the scoring for Great Valley.

The Fords got wins from the double teams of Cole Wolf and Sunny Yu, Michael Pilkington and Thomas Ward and Aly Ba and Jared Hoefner. SUN VALLEY 5, SPRINGFIEL­D 2 » Ben Lehrberger prevailed at first singles and Sun Valley swept the doubles to secure the victory over Springfiel­d.

Lehrberger bounced back after losing the first set to decision Steve Rice, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Grady Southern and Jake Baron triumphed at first doubles for the Vanguards. Hunter Hoffman and Sean Setrick won at second doubles, while Shawn Burton and Brian Stekowicz, and Joe Shapiro and Dathan Poole also triumphed.
