Perhaps with a little help from a fast-setting sun, the Delco Tigers finally turned out the lights on their losing streak to the Glen Mills Rays.

In a game shortened to six innings due to darkness, the Tigers built a lead and then held on for a 9-5 victory, their first win over the Rays in their four-year history.

In the third inning, Rhett Whitton had a two-run double. Then a clutch two-run single by Mike Miller and a three-run home run by John Cowell boosted Delco to a big early lead and the Tigers held on from there. Not that the Rays went quietly: They scored five unanswered runs only to fall a touch short after Tigers reliever Joe Little pitched a scoreless sixth inning.

Glen Mills reliever Joe Scardino pitched three scoreless innings while leading the Rays with two hits and two runs scored. MEDIA 11, ASTON 9 » Sean Walker pitched 6⅔ innings to notch his first victory of the Mustangs’ season and he received plenty of help. Matt Palmer went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Greg Bashaw and Jim Diorisio also knocked in a pair of runs each and Andrew Pisani and Chris Schilling added RBIs.
