Another brush with film fame for Llanerch Diner?
Drivers sitting in traffic on Township Line Road at West Chester Pike couldn’t help but notice the video production crews working at the Llanerch Diner Sunday and Monday.
“What are they filming?” a man yelled as he sat at the traffic light.
Alas, the two dozen crew members milling around the parking lot were mum on who and what was taking place at the diner, which became famous from the scene in the movie “Silver Linings Playbook” when Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper ate in one of its booths.
Flood lights and film equipment filled the parking lot Monday as actors could be seen moving about the diner, including sitting in the booth used by the “Silver Linings” stars which has since been marked with a special placard and has attracted fans from around the world.
Cooper played Pat Solatano in the move. Lawrence was his love interest and won an Oscar for her work. Robert De Niro was his Eaglesobsessed father. The movie filmed scenes at several locations in the county.
“We saw the booth,” said Andrea Lloyd of Havertown, who walked over with her son Monday afternoon hoping to see a movie star but had no luck, “They won’t tell us anything,” she said.
A security guard urged pedestrians to keep moving as crews set a large screen and floodlight in front of the diner.
Employees at Rapco Car Repair next door were told crews would be filming a commercial but had no other information
“Everything is so secretive,” said Shawna Hilton, a waitress at the diner for 15 years who was seen leaving the restaurant. She did add, “There is a football player there.”
A July 2017 kitchen fire closed the iconic Delaware County landmark for months. It re-opened in January.
