Learn about Social Security at Upper Chichester
UPPER CHICHESTER » The Upper Chichester Library will be hosting a free Social Security seminar from 5:30-7 p.m. on Aug. 15.
David Houtz, a certified public accountant and a certified financial planner, will be on hand to explain many pivotal retirement questions including, “Should I collect Social Security at 62, or wait longer and receive additional income,” or “How much of my spouse’s Social Security can I receive after a partner dies?”

Meanwhile, the library continues to welcome schoolchildren in grades K-5 to participate in Summer Reading Club 2018: Libraries Rock! Special programs through Aug. 21 and prizes are awarded for reading goals through Aug. 31. Children must register at the library to participate on a first come, first served basis.
Children should read one book or read for 60 minutes and prizes are awarded for their efforts through Aug. 31.

RIDLEY PARK » Channel your inner Latin rhythm as the Ridley Park Library offers a free hour-long Zumba Fitness class on Wednesday, Aug. 22, beginning at 7:30 p.m. No experience is necessary to come and join the fun. Zumba – an easy, fun danced-based fitness program that incorporates Latin rhythms such as salsa and merengue - is appropriate for all levels of fitness. The class will be taught by licensed instructor Megan Walsh, and held in the airconditioned borough hall, located at 105 E. Ward St. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and sneakers, and bring a bottle of water.

HAVERFORD » The Haverford Township Free Library, 1601 Darby Road, Havertown, again hosts The Sounds of Summer, a series of musical entertainment programs, at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Friday of the month in the parking lot. Jean Therapy concludes the series on Friday, Aug. 24, with its jazz, rock, Latin and pop sound. In the event of rain or extreme heat, programs are moved inside the library.
The library is now offering a remote location book drop. A secure drop box at the Community Recreation and Environmental Center (CREC) entrance at the Haverford Reserve, 9000 Parkway Drive, Haverford, will make returns more user friendly. This is one more way – along with online interaction, eBook usage instruction, homebound delivery, museum passes, hot spots, programs and more, that “your library on the corner” serves as full-fledged community partner. ASTON » Aston Public Library, 3720 Concord Road, holds special evening programs for the “Libraries Rock!” program at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays (unless noted): Children can become part of the story when Mr. Malcolm performs and directs “Toe Tapping Tunes with Winterthur,” July 26. Winterthur Museum visits to broaden children’s musical horizons with a fun and educational program. Participants will sing traditional American tunes, step into dance moves inspired by life in the 1800s and compose a verse of their own about life today; Tuesday, Aug. 7, Bonk! Expressive Drum & Percussion Workshop for Kids is a one-hour interactive program offering children ages 4-10 an opportunity to express themselves as they are introduced to interesting drums and percussive instruments from around the world.
