Other Times
100 Years Ago – 1918:
Water nymphs who appear daily in the Delaware off the Chester Shipbuilding plant have caused scores of workers to drop their tools and gaze for hours at the fair swimmers until the shipyard officials have asked the local police to call them out of the water on account of the time the workmen are losing. German propagandist work? No, just hot weather. And now the question is to swim or not to swim. The girls, in scanty attire, according to complaints, dive off Franklin Street wharf and head for the ways of the Chester Shipbuilding plant without fail.

25 Years Ago – 1993:
Like weary veterans of a foreign war, the 70 volunteers of Delaware County Cares arrived home from the Midwest last night after a week of doing battle with the mud and devastation left by the Flood of ’93. A traffic stop in Bethel led to the arrest of a Wilmington man who had allegedly stolen credit cards and cash from a township vehicle earlier in the day. Officer Louis Stackeni spotted a white Ford F-150 drive through a stop sign at Zebley Road and Link Drive around 1:42 p.m. Thursday, leading to the discovery of the stolen items.
