Zeh leads balanced Radnor squad to two wins

Ethan Zeh led a trio of Raiders in the top five as Radnor enjoyed a 2-0 day at its home meet Wednesday. The Raiders earned victories over Harriton (24-32) and Marple Newtown (19-39).

Zeh ran 18:25 to cross the finish line first.

He was followed by teammates Doug Rosin (18:26) in second and Frank Brown (18:44) in fourth. Kenneth Ching was Marple’s top finisher, with a time of 18:51, good enough for seventh.

The Rams defeated the Tigers, 22-39, in the other matchup.

Elsewhere in the Central League: HAVERFORD GOES NINE FOR 10 >> Nine Fords finished in the top 10, adding two more wins to Haverford’s season: 15-50 over both Conestoga and Springfiel­d. The Pioneers beat the Cougars, 15-50.

The Fords claimed the first nine places in the meet, Mike Donnelly in first with a time of 17:13 to Anthony Lawson in ninth with a time of 18:57. Springfiel­d’s Matt Coyle came in at 19th place, running 19:50 at Rose Tree Park.

Girls Cross Country

SCHROCK CLAIMS SECOND FOR RADNOR >> With Harriton setting the pace — the Rams beat Radnor and Marple Newtown by identical 19-44 scores — the Raiders won the battle of also-rans, 22-39.

Mimi Schrock of the Tigers finished in second place (22:16), but she was the lone Marple representa­tive in the top 10. Abigail Idiculla was Radnor’s top runner with a time of 22:25, good for third. FORDS GO 1-1 AT ROSE TREE >> On a day when Conestoga dominated, Haveford made sure to leave Rose Tree Park with a victory. The Fords, who fell 15-50 to the Pioneers, defeated Springfiel­d by the same score. The Cougars also lost to Conestoga, 15-50.

Connie Katcavage broke the Pioneers’ hold on the top 10 by crossing the line eighth with a time of 22:39. Karen Buchanan (22:44), Kristen Smith (22:57) and Katrina Miciek (22:58) followed ninth-11th. Freshman Emily Dath led the Springfiel­d contingent with a time of 24:55.
