Criscuolo’s career day results in Radnor win

Down six points in the fifth set, Radnor rallied Wednesday to complete a 3-2 Central League volleyball win over Springfiel­d. Scores were 19-25, 25-20, 23-25, 2521 and 19-17.

Izzy Criscuolo enjoyed a career game with 21 kills, four blocks and two aces for the Raiders. Grayce Henderson totaled 15 kills, nine digs and two blocks. Erica DiCarlo had an all-around solid night with

48 assists, eight aces, 16 digs and five kills. Defensivel­y, the Raiders were led by libero Sammy Scannapiec­o (27 digs) and defensive specialist Grace Remphrey

(18 digs).

Gordan Galloway paced the Cougars with 10 digs and seven kills. Maddie Sitley added 10 kills and Ashley Dolan dealt

14 assists.

Elsewhere in the Central League: GARNET VALLEY 3, LOWER MERION 0 >> Make it 11 straight wins to start the season for the Jags, who downed the Aces by scores of 25-11, 25-11, 25-13.

Samantha Mann and Ally Hartney led the way with nine kills apiece while hitting .600 and .500, respective­ly. Gwen Clark pitched in with six kills, four aces, two blocks and three digs, while Dolce Whitwell added five kills, 11 digs and three aces.

MARPLE NEWTOWN 3, UPPER DARBY 2 >> The Royals battled back from a two-set deficit, but lost the tiebreaker, 15-13. Violet Lange posted 36 digs, six kills and two blocks. Alison Asacreggi finished with

10 kills and five blocks, while Savannah Miller contribute­d 26 digs, 10 aces and four kills.

STRATH HAVEN 3, PENNCREST 1 >> Ellie Fisher and Gabby McGinn both racked up 18 kills and 18 digs for the Panthers, who won 25-17, 25-16, 17-25, 25-20. Megan Prendergas­t chipped in with 19 digs and three aces, Hailey Blum notched 12 digs and 38 assists, and Erin O’Brien registered seven digs and three aces. CONESTOGA 3, RIDLEY 1 >> Melanie June tallied 18 digs and Madison Vinovrski contribute­d six blocks, but their strong defense wasn’t enough to help the Green Raiders past the Pioneers, who won by scores of 25-17, 21-25, 25-21, 25-19.

In the Del Val League:

ACADEMY PARK 3, CHICHESTER 1 >> Maddy Weigand amassed five kills, 10 assists and six aces as the Eagles fell to the Knights in four sets. Keyairrah Davie added 10 kills and Iyania Sorey tallied 16 digs.

Golf

Sun Valley’s final golf meet of the season was one worth rememberin­g.

Jack Youhouse carded a team-low 47 at par-36 Rock Manor to lead the Vanguards to their first win, a 261-323 nonleague decision over Collegium Charter.

Justin Minch chipped in with a 49. Rounding out the top-five were David German (51), Jason Minch (52) and Ryan Nearey (55). Sean Burton, Mike Nagy and Nick Giannakari­o each added a par to their scorecard.

In other nonleague action: HAVERFORD 191, UPPER DUBLIN 241 >> Gregory Damico birded two of his first three holes on the way to a career-low, 2-over

37 at Cobb’s Creek Golf Course (par 35). Michael McCollum (37), Andrew Damico

(38), Riley Quartermai­n (38) and Liam Hempel (41) also put forth solid round for the Fords (13-6).

Field Hockey

Emily Raech’s hat trick powered Cardinal O’Hara to a 10-0 shellackin­g of Archbishop Ryan. Sara Grassi scored two goals for the Lions (5-3, 4-1 Catholic League). Emma Shallow supplied three assists and Sami Randazzo dished out a pair of helpers.

GERMANTOWN ACADEMY 1, BONNER & PRENDERGAS­T 0 >> Sammy Popper’s goal was the difference for the Patriots.

Boys Soccer

In a non-league match, Delco Christian erupted with three second-half goals to take a 3-1 victory over Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy. The Cougars went ahead early as Billy Cohen found the back of the net in the 16th minute. It took the Knights a half-hour to equalize, but they produced three goals in quick succession. Mac Cardone, Jack Dill and Jason Woo all scored for Delco Christian.

Girls Soccer

Archbishop Carroll got offensive in a non-league victory against Chichester. The Patriots scored four goals in each half on their way to an 8-0 win. Paige Mastripoli­to and Kelly Matey each bagged braces to lead the Carroll (4-7-1 overall, 3-4-1 PCL) goal-scorers.

Girls Tennis

Academy Park’s Del Val streak unbeaten run continued Wednesday when the Knights defeated Penn Wood in a rare double-header, both matches ending 5-0.

The Knights (6-6, 5-0 Del Val) also clinched their sixth consecutiv­e Del Val title. The top singles made the difference for Academy Park. And 2018 league champion Camille Erskine returned to the No. 2 role and won two matches against Fatoumata Diarra, while 2016 and 2017 league champ Rajh Azor beat Sallay Thollie across two matches.

In the Central League:

UPPER DARBY 4, SPRINGFIEL­D 3 >> Freshman Bridget Mongan has had quite the two days for the Royals (7-7-1 overall, 2-7-1 Central League). On Tuesday, she played a three-set doubles match and then turned around Wednesday to find a new partner, Sweatha Kalanker. They not only battled through another three-setter, but they had to do it with the match on the line. The pair of Royals delivered a 2-7, 6-4,

6-3 victory over Kimmy Connor and Natalie Noce to clinch Upper Darby’s second league win of the season.

STRATH HAVEN 7, PENNCREST 0 >> It was straight sets one through seven for the Panthers as they ran away with the tennis’ version of the Media Bowl. Megan Kidd set the tone with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Sarah Chang in first singles.

In the Ches-Mont:

SUN VALLEY 4, COATESVILL­E 3 >> Devin Cronin won her fifth match in her last six outings, defeating Marley Jones of Coatesvill­e, 6-0, 6-1. The Vanguards clinched the victory with an even split, two wins in singles, two in doubles. The second doubles pair of Jaimee Higgins and Breezie Dimaio beat Yamilet Resendiz and Kiley Berkheimer, 6-0, 6-0.

In nonleague play:

PHIL-MONT CHRISTIAN 4, JACK M. BARRACK HEBREW ACADEMY 2 >> The Cougars put up a strong fight on the road but came up short. The teams played pro-set with Hannah Parish defeating Symone Delago,

8-5 in first singles. In first doubles, J.M. Barrack got their second point, this one from Anita Hoffman and Daniela Barrow. They beat Journey Burroughs and Yera Park, 8-5.
