The program recently marked its 5th anniversary. The presentation will be held in the meeting room. Light refreshments will be served.

Please register for this event.

This time, his talk will be all about mummies! He’ll show how the mummification process developed through time, how mummies were actually made and will explore why they hold such a fascination in popular culture. A number of illustrations in this talk are images of actual ancient Egyptian mummies, many collected as part of Dr. Phillips’ own research in Egypt. Registration is required for this free program.

Challenge children to read in Concord

CONCORD >> Families are invited to join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at the Rachel Kohl Community Library. The free program is a nationwide challenge that encourages parents and caregivers to regularly read aloud to their children. By reading just one book a night, families can reach the 1,000book goal in three years and provide their children essential early literacy skill.

Research shows that the most reliable predictor of school success is being read to during early childhood. Reading to children from an early age can help close the vocabulary gap and prepare children to enter kindergarten with the skills they need to succeed. Most importantly, sharing books with children promotes a lifelong long of books and reading.

The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program is available to all families with children between the ages of birth and 5 years.

Registration is open at the library, located at 687 Smithbridge Road, Glen Mills. For more information, call the library at 610358-3445, or visit the website, www.kohllibrary.org.
