Mary E. (nee March) Govan, daughter of Melvin and Mary March, was born on November 14, 1942 and entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.

She grew up in Havertown and married her loving husband, Charles M. Govan Jr., on September 5, 1968. They raised three sons in Drexel Hill and moved to Aldan in 1990.

Mary shared her kind spirit and caring ways with countless children when she worked for 21 years as a crossing guard for Upper Darby Township.

More than anything, Mary loved her 6 grandchildren. She left her cherished crossing guard position to help care for her grandbabies on weekdays. She was patient and gentle with them, showing them the beauty of the outdoors and the simple joys in life. She would take them on long walks to collect leaves and rocks. Most times, you could find her sitting on the floor with her grandchildren surrounded by toy cars, baby dolls and coloring books. She never lost interest in their thoughts and hobbies, which made the kids adore her.

In addition to spending time with family, Mary loved to keep her garden colorful and took pride in the beauty of her home.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brother (Melvin Jr.) and sister (Margaret Geraghty). In addition to her beloved husband, Mary is survived by her loving children: Charles (Kit), Michael (Maureen) and Christopher (Melanie). Mary is also survived by her six grandchildren: Shon, Akiko, Michael Jr., Julianna, Hannah and Sophia.

Relatives and Friends are invited to her Viewing Friday, November 2, 2018, 9:30 A.M. Church of St. Joseph, 500 Woodlawn Ave., Collingdale, PA 19023 and to her Funeral Mass 11 A.M. in the Church. Int. SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
