Owens to get his Hall ring at halftime of 49ers game

SANTA CLARA >> Terrell Owens will receive his Hall of Fame ring at a ceremony during the San Francisco 49ers’ game against the Oakland Raiders.

Owens will be presented the ring Thursday night at halftime by Hall of Fame president David Baker. Owens will wear his gold Hall of Fame jacket and his bronzed bust will be on hand for the ceremony.

Owens was voted into the Hall of Fame earlier this year but skipped the induction ceremony in Canton, Ohio.

Owens ranks second all-time with 15,934 yards receiving to go along with 1,078 catches and 153 touchdown receptions.

Bears may place Long on injured reserve

LAKE FOREST, ILL. >> Chicago Bears right guard Kyle Long has a tendon injury in his right foot, and the team is deciding whether to put him on injured reserve.

Coach Matt Nagy said Wednesday the three-time Pro Bowl lineman has a boot on his foot and is “week to week.” The Bears are still trying to figure out the “complete extent” of the injury.

Former Seahawks coach Jack Patera dies at 85

RENTON, WASH. >> Jack Patera, the first head coach in the history of the Seahawks, has died at age 85.

Patera died on Wednesday, the team said. The cause of death was not clear, but Patera had been battling pancreatic cancer.

Patera was Seattle’s head coach for parts of seven seasons, beginning with the team’s inaugural season in 1976. Patera’s best seasons came in 1978-79 when the Seahawks went 9-7 in consecutiv­e years, but failed to make the playoffs.
