Raymond J. Murtha Sr. “Pop”

Raymond J. Murtha Sr. “Pop” 81, of Lansdowne, passed away on October 15,

2018.

Raymond was survived by his wife Elizabeth (nee Doherty), his seven children, Kevin Murtha (Patty

1959-2010), Patricia Gallagher (Michael), Meg McGuire, Kellyanne Cullen (Matty), Raymond Murtha, Jr. (Luci 1965-2017), Shannon Steinmetz (Chuck), Patrick Murtha (Becky),

18 Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren also, his three step-children Elaine Hunter, Daniel Crossan, and Lisa Girill (Eric) and six Step-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy Murtha (nee Abbott) and his four brothers Joe, Jack, Kenny and Tommy. Also, his granddaughter Leah Murtha, and daughters-inlaw Patty Murtha (nee Sabatini) and Luci Murtha (nee Lynch).

Raymond was a proud US Army veteran, serving as a paratrooper and a military policeman assigned to the 82nd and the 11th Airborne Divisions. He was also a local business owner for more than 15 years and was employed by Waverly Heights Ltd., for the last 28 years.

Ray enjoyed the simple things in life, like watching TV and spending time with family. He was an avid sports fan, dedicated to his Philadelphia teams. He also enjoyed playing golf with his sons, grandsons and friends.

Ray was a positive influence in many lives and he will be missed.

Family and Friends are invited to Ray’s Life Celebration on Saturday November 10th from 9 to 11 am at Vraim Funeral Home, 66 S. State Rd., Upper Darby Pa. with internment of his urn to follow at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery Sproul Rd. Broomall, Pa.
