Brown-Johnson helps Neumann rally past Leb Valley

Neumann trailed Lebanon Valley by as many as 17 points Saturday. But Raquan Brown-Johnson had an answer for that.

Brown-Johnson scored 20 points to go with nine rebounds and seven assists as the Knights rallied for an 87-80 overtime win.

Waheem Lohman and Aaron Johnson-Chavis added 17 points apiece, the latter with five blocks and eight boards. His block of a layup with six seconds left assured the Knights of an extra period. Jordan Collins (Springfiel­d High) was near a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. LAFAYETTE 77, LA SALLE 76 >> Ashley Howard was 10 seconds away from his first win at the helm of the Explorers, but Alex Petrie’s three-point play with 10 seconds left stole a win for the Leopards.

Pookie Powell led La Salle (02) with 26 points. Isiash Deas chipped in 16 points, and Miles Brookins contribute­d 13. PSU-MONT ALTO 60, WILLIAMSON

55 >> Vontangoe Donzo (Penn wood) scored 22 points and grabbed 22 rebounds, but the Mechanics couldn’t recover from a 13-point halftime deficit. Isaiah Schmidt added 16 points, and Nazhir Goldston chipped in 11 for Williamson.

Women’s Basketball

Senior Regie Robinson poured in 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as Eastern opened the season with an 80-64 victory at home over Lebanon Valley.

The Eagles went on a 23-1 run to erase a 60-57 deficit early in the fourth quarter. A three-point play by Robinson followed by two free throws from Jaelyn Harris put Eastern up for good. Harris finished with 17 points and Viki Kneis 14 for Eastern. ROSEMONT 76, PSU-BRANDYWINE 61>> Ke’alohilani Naone-Carter’s 15 points and 13 boards led the Ravens in the season opener for both teams. Ashley Murray pitched in with 13 points and Jayme Byers 11.

Dana D’Ambrosio (Ridley) paced the Lions with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Nikki Velez chipped in with 13 points. PENN 58, SIENA 51 >> Junior Phoebe Sterba hit four 3-pointers and scored a career-high 16 points as the Quakers won their season opener for the first time since 2011 and their first on the road since 2007. She also had our rebounds. Sophomore Eleah Parker added 12 points, five boards, three blocks, two steals and one assist. VIRGINIA STATE 75, CHEYNEY 48 >> Marion Herring paired 13 points with nine rebounds, and Shania Stamper added nine points off the bench for the Wolves (0-2).
