Clemson’s Ferrell heads for NLF draft
COLUMBIA, S.C. >> The last member of Clemson’s fearsome national championship defensive front four in All-American Clelin Ferrell is joining his linemates in heading to the NFL.
Ferrell announced his intention Thursday night to declare for the NFL draft and give up his final season in college.
His departure makes it a clean sweep of Clemson’s defensive line — All-American tackle Christian Wilkins and end Austin Bryant were seniors and tackle Dexter Lawrence entered the draft Wednesday.
Ferrell had four tackles and 11/2 tackles for loss against the Crimson Tide. He led the Tigers this season with 111/2 sacks.
Louisville linebacker enrolls at Florida
GAINESVILLE, FLA. >> Former Louisville linebacker Jonathan Greenard has enrolled at Florida as a graduate transfer and will be eligible to play in 2019.
The 6-foot-4, 263-pounder from Hiram, Ga., missed most of last season because of a wrist injury sustained in the opener.
He led the Cardinals with 151/2 tackles for loss in 2017, including a team-high seven sacks, and was named a team captain last year.
Harbaugh hires Gattis away from Alabama
ANN ARBOR, MICH. >> Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh bounced back from losing two assistants to rival Ohio State with what looks like a strong addition to his staff.
Harbaugh hired Josh Gattis away from Alabama to be his offensive coordinator after losing assistants Greg Mattison and Al Washington to the Buckeyes on consecutive days this week.
The 34-year-old Gattis was cooffensive coordinator last season for the Crimson Tide.
