Hendrixson has career day in Drexel’s win over Delaware

Marua Hendrixson, the 2017-18

Girls Basketball Player of the Year from Cardinal O’Hara, had the best day of her young career as Drexel rolled over Delaware, 57-40, in CAA women’s basketball action Sunday.

The freshman guard scored 14 of her career-high 16 points in the second half to pace the Dragons to their eighth straight win over the Blue Hens. She was 4-for-6 from 3-point range in the second half. Aubree Brown recorded her second career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to go along with six assists. Hannah Nihill (two-time POY from Cardinal O’Hara) added five points, four assists and two steals. DEPAUL 66, VILLANOVA 59 >> The visiting Blue Demons scored the first four points in overtime to take the lead and shot 4-for-6 from the free throw line to seal the victory.

Mary Gedaka led the Wildcatss (10-6, 2-4 Big East) with 22 points. Kelly Jekot added 17 points and five rebounds. MASSACHUSE­TTS 74, LA SALLE 60 >> The Minutewome­n went on a 14-6 run to start the fourth quarter to take control of the contest.

Rayshel Brown topped La Salle with 14 points. Michelle Nicholls (11 points) and Janay Sanders (10) also scored double figures for the Explorers.

SAINT JOSEPH’S 66, ST. BONAVENTUR­E 41 >> Alyssa Monaghan (Daily Times POY from Bonner & Prendergas­t), Kristalyn Baisden and Lulu Roig combined for 47 points to pace the Hawks to their first Atlantic 10 win of the season.

Monaghan led all scorers with 19 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds. Baisden added 16 points, three boards and two assists, while Roig finished with 12 points, three steals and three rebounds.

Men’s Basketball

NHTI’s 3-point shooting was too much for Williamson in the second day of the Williamson Winter Classic

NHTI shot 56 percent from deep in the second half and 45 percent overall from beyond the arc for a

98-73 victory over the Mechanics.

Vontangoe Donzo (Penn Wood) led Williamson with

26 points and 11 rebounds. David Derby chipped in with 13 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.
