Hen­drix­son has ca­reer day in Drexel’s win over Delaware

Marua Hen­drix­son, the 2017-18

Girls Bas­ket­ball Player of the Year from Car­di­nal O’Hara, had the best day of her young ca­reer as Drexel rolled over Delaware, 57-40, in CAA women’s bas­ket­ball ac­tion Sun­day.

The fresh­man guard scored 14 of her ca­reer-high 16 points in the sec­ond half to pace the Drag­ons to their eighth straight win over the Blue Hens. She was 4-for-6 from 3-point range in the sec­ond half. Aubree Brown recorded her sec­ond ca­reer dou­ble-dou­ble with 12 points and 10 re­bounds to go along with six as­sists. Han­nah Ni­hill (two-time POY from Car­di­nal O’Hara) added five points, four as­sists and two steals. DEPAUL 66, VIL­LANOVA 59 >> The vis­it­ing Blue Demons scored the first four points in over­time to take the lead and shot 4-for-6 from the free throw line to seal the vic­tory.

Mary Gedaka led the Wild­catss (10-6, 2-4 Big East) with 22 points. Kelly Jekot added 17 points and five re­bounds. MAS­SACHUSETTS 74, LA SALLE 60 >> The Min­ute­women went on a 14-6 run to start the fourth quar­ter to take con­trol of the con­test.

Rayshel Brown topped La Salle with 14 points. Michelle Ni­cholls (11 points) and Janay San­ders (10) also scored dou­ble fig­ures for the Ex­plor­ers.

SAINT JOSEPH’S 66, ST. BON­AVEN­TURE 41 >> Alyssa Mon­aghan (Daily Times POY from Bon­ner & Pren­der­gast), Kristalyn Bais­den and Lulu Roig com­bined for 47 points to pace the Hawks to their first At­lantic 10 win of the sea­son.

Mon­aghan led all scor­ers with 19 points. She also grabbed seven re­bounds. Bais­den added 16 points, three boards and two as­sists, while Roig fin­ished with 12 points, three steals and three re­bounds.

Men’s Bas­ket­ball

NHTI’s 3-point shoot­ing was too much for Wil­liamson in the sec­ond day of the Wil­liamson Win­ter Clas­sic

NHTI shot 56 per­cent from deep in the sec­ond half and 45 per­cent over­all from be­yond the arc for a

98-73 vic­tory over the Me­chan­ics.

Von­tan­goe Donzo (Penn Wood) led Wil­liamson with

26 points and 11 re­bounds. David Derby chipped in with 13 points, 11 re­bounds and four as­sists.
