Edward (Ed) Kautz
Edward (Ed) Kautz, of Media, died peacefully on January 13, 2019, at the age of 79.
Ed was born in 1939 and grew up in Middletown; he was a 1957 graduate of Media High School and went to college at PMC (now Widener), earning a Bachelor’s Degrees in mechanical engineering.
Ed worked at the Philadelphia Naval Yard and later spent 37 years at the Naval Air Development Center (NADC) in Warminster, PA. Following his retirement, he continued work as an engineering consultant at VEDA at Boeing in Eddystone, PA.
Ed was a former member of the Middletown Fire Company and was active as a coach in the Media Little League.
Edward loved the outdoors and had a great interest in photography and birding. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, holding season tickets with his son for years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jane (nee Bruton); his son David, of Phoenixville, PA; daughter, Karen Lawler (Brendan) of Swedesboro, NJ; nephew, Herb Freeborn, of Upland, PA and 5 grandchildren, Andrew and Lauren Kautz, and Ryan, Daniel, and Kevin Lawler.
A Memorial Service in Edward’s honor will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at J. Nelson Rigby Funeral Home in Media, PA. Visitation will be at 12:00 pm and will be followed by a brief service at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Parkinson’s Research Foundation in Ed’s honor.
