Villanova adds six to recruiting class

Villanova’s football recruiting class just got a little bigger.

The Wildcats signed six players Wednesday to bring the total number in the class to 17. Villanova inked 11 players in the early signing period in December.

The latest signees are Wyatt Hummel, an offensive lineman from Dallas Jesuit, defensive end/tight end Jack Stanton from Alpharetta, Ga., Rayjoun Pringle, a wide receiver from Hayfield High in Alexandria, Va., Jason Hayek, a wide receiver from Wayne Hills High in New Jersey, running back TD Ayo-Durojaiye from Damascus, Md. and linebacker Josh Slay from Douglisvil­le, Ga.

Pringle caught 58 passes for 749 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior. He also plays basketball. Hayek moved back to receiver from quarterbac­k and caught 65 passes for 1,165 yards and

15 touchdowns. He also had

449 yards of kickoff and punt returns and rushed for 427 yards, accounting for over 2,000 all-purpose yards and 21 touchdowns

The 6-6, 280-pound Hummel is a two-sport standout, too. He throws the shot and discus in track and is an Eagle Scout. The 6-4, 240-pound Stanton earned first team All-Region 7-AAAAAA honors on defense. He was in on 63 total tackles which included 32 solo stops. He also have five sacks and 12 tackles for loss.

Overall, the recruiting class includes three offensive linemen, three receivers, three defensive linemen, three defensive backs, two running backs, two linebacker­s and one quarterbac­k.
