Chester’s Langley wins 400, posts state-qualifying time

Chester’s Malachi Langley carted home a gold medal from the Pennsylvan­ia Track and Field Coaches Associatio­n Indoor Carnival Saturday, winning the 400-meter dash in 51.16 seconds. That time is worthy of qualifying for the state meet.

Haverford’s Brendan Campbell and Aiden Tomov quailed for states and took home fourth place in the 800 and mile, respective­ly. Penn Wood was victorious in the 4 x 200 (1:34.40) and 4 x 400 (3:29.58) relays, with Haverford second in the former and Chester the runner-up in the latter. Radnor won the boys distance medley in 10 minutes, 43.11 seconds.

On the girls side, Penn Wood was the runner-up in both the 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 relays. Radnor’s Keara Seasholtz took second in the 800 meters in a states time. In finishing fifth in that event, Erica Kent of Garnet Valley also met the state standard.

Brianna Foster was third in the 60-meter dash in a statequali­fying time, with Upper Darby’s Dominique Timmons sixth. Garnet’s Grace Zamrowski was fourth in the

400 to qualify for the state meet, while Meghan Lynch’s time that earned fifth in the

60-meter hurdles was also worthy of states inclusion. Upper Darby’s Kayla Thorpe placed sixth in the shot put.

On Friday night, Garnet Valley used the Track and Field Coaches Associatio­n of Greater Philadelph­ia’s Last Chance Meet to qualify for the Meet of Champs with a win in distance medley relay in 10:45.50.

Chichester’s Dominick Brown and Penn Wood’s James Nmah turned in states times in the 400, finishing third and fourth, respective­ly. Strath Haven’s Quinn Vandellos was third in the 60-meter hurdles. Haverford’s Josh Fingerhut took fourth in the mile, and Garnet Valley’s Chandler Koehler was sixth in the 60-meter dash.

Penncrest’s 4 x 800 relay was third, a spot ahead of Penn Wood, while Haverford took bronze in the 4 x 400. Penn Wood’s Tayvon Williams was fourth in the triple jump. Kevin Milles of Penncrest and Collin Ney of Haverford were fifth in the high jump and long jump, respective­ly, while the Fords’ Chasen Wint took sixth in the shot put.
