TCA’s Gormley nets 1,000th career point

Grace Gormley made history Saturday, scoring 12 points to join the 1,000-point club in a 38-30 win for Christian Academy over Plumstead Christian.

Gormley hit the mark in the fourth quarter. She’s just the sixth player in program history and the first in 20 years to cross 1,000 points.

Deasia Speaks scored 10 points, and Kiera Cryan added eight for the Crusaders.

In nonleague action:

SACRED HEART 31, STRATH HAVEN 27 >> Kyra Quigley scored 11 points, and Kayleigh Doyle added seven in a low-scoring affair in which the Lions (13-8) prevailed.

Cayden Frazier paced Strath Haven with 13 points, and Alisha Lewis chipped in nine.

Boys Basketball

Christian Ray scored 19 points, in the process becoming Haverford School’s all-time leading scorer and leading the Fords to a 51-46 win over Camden Saturday.

Ray has 1,578 points in his three seasons with the Fords, the All-Delco and La Salle commit passing Henry Fairfax for first on the school’s list. He’s led the Fords to back-to-back InterAc League titles and helped them finish the regular season Saturday with a 24-0 record.

Jameer Nelson Jr. added 13 points. Jameel Brown tossed in 10 points, and Asim Richards added nine for the Fords, who trailed by seven at halftime.

20 points to go with eight rebounds, six assists and five steals for the Crusaders

(10-10, 8-6), who earn a return date with Plumstead in Monday’s opening round of the BAL playoffs.

Luke Sareyka posted a season-high

19 points to go with 10 rebounds, and Sam Geathers chipped in 11 points for the Crusaders.
