Neumann’s Saunders breaks school career scoring record

Neumann’s Nafisa Saunders became the all-time leading scorer in program history in Saturday’s 72-68 non-conference victory over Valley Forge.

Saunders, who scored 35 points, made a layup with 3:54 left in the fourth quarter to give the senior 1,836 points. The previous record of 1,835 points was set by Brittany Whetts in 2010.

Mariah Maciejewsk­i, who assisted on Saunders’ record-breaking basket, pitched in with 13 points for the Knights (13-10).

WIDENER 71, STEVENSON 70 >> Devan Rimmer scored a game-high 32 points for the Pride, who clinched their first MAC Commonweal­th postseason berth since the 2012-13 campaign. Madison Ireland (Garnet Valley All-Delco) put forth a solid overall effort with six points, eight assists, three rebounds and two steals.

Rimmer’s third of five 3-pointers was the 100th of her career, making her the seventh player in program history to accomplish the feat.

CABRINI 80, IMMACULATA 59 >> Sun Valley grad Kate Lannon was one of four Cabrini players to score at least 14 points. The Cavs (15-8, 10-0) have won nine in a row.

Lannon, a sophomore, tallied 18 points on 9-for-14 shooting from the floor and added seven rebounds and five assists. Ashley Tutzauer was

4-for-4 from beyond the arc and scored

16 points, while Kirsten Searcy and Lexi Edwards rounded out the Cavs in double figures with 15 and 14 points, respective­ly.

EASTERN 63, MANHATTANV­ILLE 56 >> The Eagles (10-13) kept their MAC Commonweal­th playoff hopes alive with their fifth consecutiv­e win. Minika Glenn dumped in 15 points and Viki Kneis added 13 points, nine rebounds and two assists.

PSU-BRANDYWINE 54, PSU-YORK 40 >> Brandywine (16-7) limited York to 23 percent shooting as the Lions claimed a fourth straight Penn State University Athletic Conference decision.

Brandi James (Interboro) totaled a game-high 15 points, while Madison D’Ambrosio (Springfiel­d) and Maddie Michael (Sun Valley) each collected 10 points. D’Ambrosio dished five assists and grabbed five rebounds

UCONN 109, TEMPLE 74 >> The Owls (8-15) struggled to a 37.9 percent shooting performanc­e as they saw their four-game winning streak fall against the fifthranke­d Huskies (21-2), who shot 62.9 percent from the field, including 62.5 percent (15-for-24) from 3-point distance.

Sophomore Mia Davis tallied 20 points with nine rebounds to lead five Owls in double figures.

DICKINSON 77, SWARTHMORE 45 >> Karinna Papke had a team-high nine points for the Garnet (3-21), who shot 29.8 percent from the floor and committed 24 turnovers.

Men’s

Haverford’s Jesse Turkson connected on a jump shot in the nick of time.

Turkson’s deuce with one-tenth of a second left in overtime gave the Fords an 82-80 overtime victory over McDaniel.

Turkson’s final basket capped another double-double for the sophomore, who finished with 12 points and 15 rebounds. Jack Cork came off the bench to score 22 points on 10 of 13 shooting, and Joe Scibelli added 18 points for the Fords (1013), who reached their highest win total in a season since 2012.

DCCC 149, LEHIGH CARBON CC 91 >> The score is not a misprint. The Phantoms went off for 80 points in the first half, racked up 45 assists, and shot 61-for-117 from the floor.

Two players recorded triple-doubles. Nick Simmons (Academy Park) had 24 points, 14 steals and 11 assists, while Shannon Burnett-Pullium 23 points,

16 rebounds and 12 assists. Mike Mallon (Penncrest) poured in a game-high

32 points. Justin Gans (22), Nazir Gossette (15), Ketquan Gatewood (14) and Shaquell Stokes (10) also reached double figures in scoring for DCCC. CABRINI 95, IMMACULATA 78 >> Anthony Wright-Downing dropped in 26 points and Voshon Mack paired 25 points with 10 rebounds as the Cavaliers (6-17) snapped a four-game slide. Ivan Robinson contribute­d 19 points in the win. EASTERN 89, MANHATTANV­ILLE 88 >> Darius Washington drilled a 3-pointer with nine seconds remaining to give the Eagles the victory. Washington finished with a game-high 22 points. Marquise Peele had 21 points and four assists, while Michael Bowler logged 17 points, six rebounds and five assists for Eastern (15-8).

PSU-YORK 66, PSU-BRANDYWINE 65 >> Brandywine led by nine points with 8:47 to play in the second half but was held without a field goal the rest of the way. Pat Gallagher (Marple Newtown) scored 13 of his team-high 17 points in the first half, while Jacob Hunt collected 16 points, five assists and three steals.

WIDENER 75, STEVENSON 55 >> Elijah Boyd scored 16 points and snared nine rebounds as the Pride celebrated senior night with a win and moved into second place in the MAC Commonweal­th standings. Ryan McMahon (nine assists) and Conor Laverty (seven rebounds) chipped in 12 points apiece.

SWARTHMORE 100, DICKINSON 82 >> The Garnet reached the century mark in scoring for the first time this season and picked up their 20th win. Cam Wiley and George Visconti were the game’s highest point scorers with 26 and 25 points, respective­ly. Conor Harkins contribute­d 16 points and six boards for the Garnet (203), who have won six in a row. MILLERSVIL­LE 86, CHEYNEY 50 >> Cliff St. Juste led the way for the Wolves (118), who were outscored 73-33 over the game’s final 33 minutes.
