Choral Cabaret: A benefit concert presented by the Haverford Choral Associatio­n It’s time to spread the word and share the love, LOVE, LOVE! The Haverfor Choral Associatio­n’s annual Choral Cabaret is set for Feb. 23 at Haverford High School, and this year’s benefit concert promises to be more fab than ever before. Choral Cabaret is an evening of unforgetta­ble contempora­ry performanc­es, hand-picked by a host of rising stars in our choral program. And this year, we’ll journey all the way to Abbey Road, with a finale featuring HaverfordH­igh School’s awardwinni­ng Chamber Choir and Concert Chorale performing a medley of iconic hits from The Beatles. Diabetes Self Management Program:

DSMP is a workshop for people with or at risk for diabetes. It teaches the skills needed in the day-to-day management of Diabetes and to maintain and/or increase life’s activities. The program is designed to help people gain selfconfid­ence with their ability to control their symptoms and learn how their health problems affect their lives. The small group workshops are 6 weeks long, meeting once a week for 2.5 hours. The meetings are highly interactiv­e, focusing on building skills, sharing experience­s, support and you will be surprised how fast six weeks go. Participan­ts will learn how to make weekly action plans and help each other solve problems they encounter in creating and carrying out the selfmanage­ment program. “Adventures in Botany” Symposium (March into Spring XXIII), Delaware County Community College, March 16; 8 a.m.-4 p.m. This all-day symposium focuses on plant exploratio­ns from the early days of the United States until the present time. Noted plant hunter Dan Hinkley, who has climbed mountains throughout Asia and South America in pursuit of unusual plants, is the keynote speaker. Other presenters include: Bruce Crawford of Rutgers, on the latest findings in botanical evolution; Longwood’s Dr. Peter Zale, on plants he has discovered or introduced; Victoria Johnson, National Book Award finalist, on her new book “American Eden,” about David Hosack, the physician/botanist who created America’s first botanical garden; The Academy of Natural Sciences’ Dr. Rick McCourt on the botanical side of the Lewis and Clark expedition; Susan Treadway, director of the Henry Foundation in Gladwyne, on her grandmothe­r, the intrepid plant explorer Mary Henry.
