Wawa celebrates 50 years at Woodlyn store Thursday
RIDLEY >> Nothing says Delaware County more than Wawa. And the iconic convenience store chain is proud of its Delco roots, including its special ties to Ridley Township, where it had its first retail outlets.
On Thursday the Chester Heightsbased chain will hold a special party at a store on Fairview Road in the heart of the township to mark another milestone — the 50th anniversary of the Woodlyn Wawa located at 510 Fairview Road.
To honor this special anniversary and to celebrate Wawa’s dedication to its Woodlyn family, Wawa is hosting a family reunion-style in-store celebration that will take place all day Thursday.
On Thursday, May 16, at 9 a.m. the 50th Anniversary family reunion anniversary celebration will toast the generations of customers and associates for their friendship and business throughout the years.
Plus, the store will feature free coffee all day.
As a highlight of the event, honored customers will be invited to take pictures with Wawa’s Mascot Wally Goose.
“As we mark 50 years in our Woodlyn store, we are reminded of the incredible bonds that make our associates, customers and community partners part of one big extended Wawa family,” said Jim Magee, area manager for Wawa. “This celebration gives us a chance to say thank you to everyone who continues to make Wawa a place that not only simplifies lives, but feels like home!”
As part of this milestone reunion celebration, Wawa will honor Key Customers who have been part of the extended Woodlyn Wawa family for many years. Wawa has identified some key customers who have frequented the location since the very first day it opened! To honor these key family members, the store’s General Manager Tiffany Powell will present each of these customers with a special Wawa gift basket, filled with one month’s worth of free Wawa coffee coupons and specialty beverages.
The Woodlyn store was built in 1969. Throughout the years, the store has evolved and been remodeled, bringing customers state-of-theart facilities, service and convenience.
