Hundreds of kids run for their health at Rose Tree Park
UPPER PROVIDENCE >> Hundreds of Delco kids took advantage of perfect spring conditions Sunday at Rose Tree Park as they committed to a healthier lifestyle
Children, family and friends all gathered at the finish line to celebrate a race toward a healthier lifestyle as Healthy Kids Running Series celebrates its 10th anniversary with a festival-like event called 10 FEST. Healthy Kids Running Series is a national, community-based nonprofit that provides a fun, inclusive, five-week running series for ages 2-14 designed to get kids active, experience accomplishment and lay the foundation for a healthy lifestyle.
Healthy Kids Running Series’ 10 FEST was open to families throughout the Northeast with an opportunity to race against one another in a series of age appropriate distances. Healthy Kids Running Series’ 10 FEST was open to all boys and girls regardless if currently registered in Healthy Kids Running Series spring Series. In addition to racing, kids had the opportunity to participate in all kids of fun activities, including moon bounces, face painting, photo booths, activity stations and more. All kids received a commemorative TShirt and the top three finishers in each age division earned trophies.
Healthy Kids Running Series, a national organization with 60,000+ kids in more than 250 communities nationwide, is based in the Philadelphia area, teaches its participants to live an active lifestyle as a result of goal setting and dedication through a fiveweek spring and fall Series of once-a-week and age-appropriate race distances.
The Healthy Kids Running Series was founded in 2009 to combat increasing rates of childhood obesity through the introduction of running. What began in West Chester, now operates across the country. Visit us at www.HealthyKidsRunningSeries.org for more information.
