Papa, Ford Jr. go the route for Delco Tigers

The hot weather didn’t bother Matt Papa and Bill Ford Jr. Sunday. Both pitchers went the distance as the Top Lumber Expos swept a Delco MSBL doublehead­er from the Aston Marauders, 14-4 and 10-0.

Anthony Monzo collected four hits in each game. He drove in two runs in the opener. Anthony DiGregorio added three hits and two RBIs in Game 1.

Ford Jr., who had two hits and an RBi in the first game, tossed a one-hitter with eight strikeouts in the nightcap. Zac Penman added three hits and Bill DeBoer, Dave DeMaglio and Papa added two hits and two RBIs apiece.

Elsewhere in the MSBL: DELCO TIGERS 4-12, CLIFTON ORIOLES 1-0 >> Jeremy Dale tossed a complete-game one-hitter in the opener. Justin Behrenhaus­en reached based three times and scored twice. David Tierno added a two-run double.

Joe Littlle hurled a threehit shutout in the nightcap. Behrenhaus­en went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Patrick Jennings’ two-run single in the first inning was all the offense the Tigers would need.

In Senior EDCO action: MARPLE GATORS 8, HIGHLAND PARK 6 >> Eric Tannenbaum led the way with three hits and two RBIs. Ric Collings fanned seven in five innings out of the bullpen. Jim Sharkey, Scott Hahn and Anthony Greco also knocked in runs.

Softball

Good thing Mike Bains was in the lineup.

Bains went 5-for-6 as J.D. McGillicud­dy’s outlasted Rothman Orthopedic­s in 12 innings, 14-13, in the Millennium Sunday League. Brad Hermansen (four hits) and Chris Owens (three hits including a triple) also were key contributo­rs in the opener.

Tim Ryan ripped a tworun dinger and drove in four runs to help Rothman take the nightcap, 11-9. Bob McGrath was perfect at the plate in the doublehead­er. PRECISION CHIMNEY AND MASONRY 23-20, BARNABY’S OF ASTON 3-12 >> Chuck Stewart was 5-for-7 in the opener on his birthday. Chuck Brooks also had five hits in Game 1 and was the winning pitcher in both games. Brian Kucharik went 7-for-7 in the twin bill. CASEY’S 12-13, MARTY MAGEE’S KNIGHTS 10-19 >> Christian DiGalbo slugged a homer in the first inning and drove in four runs to help the Knights earn a split. 29-8, JOHNNY B’S 4-18 >> Dan Ryan slugged went 3-for-3 with a homer and four RBIs and Mark Bruno was 4-for-4 with five RBIs to pace a 30hit attack for Stephen’s in the opener. No details on Game 2.

GRAMLICK CONTRUSTIO­N 1116, MARTY MAGEE’S WEEKEND WARRIORS 7-13 >> Timmy Fallon went 4-for-4 amd Mitch Smith was 4-for-4 with two home runs to help Gramlick erase a 8-0 deficit in the nightcap. Dan Fallon had three hits and Brad Buonadonna scored three times in Game 1.

BEHMKE CONSTRUCTI­ON 1212, GALLE ELECTRIC SHOCKERS 10-26 >> Tommy Nardelli’s three-run blast gave Behmke the win in Game 1. John Loannidis was 3-for-3.

Todd Abbott was 7-for-8 on the day with three dingers, two in this Game 2 to help the Shockers earn a split.
