FOR THE BIRDS

I see a lot of people are mentioning the fact that they don’t see many birds any more. I picked up the paper today and I see where the explosion down at the oil refinery in Southwest Philly released 5,000 pounds of hydrochloric acid. That’s really bad news. It’s toxic material. Maybe the birds are like the bird in the in the mineshaft theory. They are getting out of here for their own welfare. REALIST IN RIDLEY

TAKE HIM AT HIS WORD

“And That’s the Truth:” You are absolutely right. There is a photo of President Trump with Rudy Giuliani and the two arrested by the FBI. But you are wrong to accuse the president of lying. He has said he did have a picture taken with Rudy and the two arrested but does know the two arrested. Do you know the number of people the president has graciously agreed to be photographed with since his presidency? Probably not and I’m guessing the number is in the thousands. Congratulations, you are now a vital part of the “fake news” reporting. BETH

SKIP IT ALREADY

To the mental midget, “See Ya,” who complained about Jodine Mayberry’s column and called for Chris Freind’s column to be run in place of hers: Here’s the thing, child. If you don’t like a TV show, turn the channel. If you don’t like a particular columnist, don’t read his or her opinion pieces. That’s exactly how I deal with troglodytes like Christine Flowers. I don’t demand the removal of her column. I simply skip it. I have read enough of her opinions to know that reading her stuff is just going to raise my blood pressure. There are plenty of publications online and offline that will give you the biased opinions you desire. The Daily Times makes a pretty decent effort of showcasing opinions on both sides. If you can’t handle that, then maybe you need to look elsewhere just for editorial pieces that meet with your approval. JB

JUST CLUELESS

“History Lesson 2” says Trump is right to pull troops out of Syria as “those people over there have been fighting each other for a thousand years” and “it’s their ay of life and we cannot change it.” Does “History Lesson 2” have no memory at all of 9/11? Does he/ she think that ISIS will just go away if we pull our troops? . The purpose of our mission in the Middle East is to defeat ISIS and to prevent another attack on our country. They did it once, and given the opportunity to regain strength, the chances of it happening again only increase.

KEEP IT UP

I read “Switching Channels’” letter to Sound Off in last Sunday’s Times. I agree that every time one finds a channel that isn’t complete rubbish and you enjoy that channel, it’s taken too soon. I am not a senior citizen and pay way too much now. Let’s all keep complaining.

THE GOOD OLD DAYS

Is there anyone over 50 years old who had air conditioning or meals in grammar school? I didn’t and I can’t think of anybody else who did did. JEANETTE G

CHECK THE FINE PRINT

Before you buy that car repair insurance policy, better read all of the things they will not cover. Their commercials are a joke. The repairs that we needed were called normal wear and tear and were not covered. Well, that covers most of the cars on the road. The repair shop they sent us to wanted $380 and would not accept the insurance policy. The policy people wanted to send us around again till a shop would accept what they would pay. After losing money on the policy we cancelled. Buyer beware.

NO CHOICE

I have never been a big fan of Joe Biden. While I have a lot of respect for his service to this country, he has lost a lot of his fight and energy. Not good, as the only alternative candidate Sen. Warren, seems to evade the obvious answer when questioned about middle class tax increases to pay for her radical Medicare-for-all program when we all know the math behind this. If nominated, this will be her downfall and Trump will easily walk into a second term. I believe that Joe Biden represents a better alternative.
