Central League champion Garnet Valley has unofficially earned the No. 3 seed in the District 1 Class

6A tournament.

The Jaguars (9-1) will host

14th-seeded Owen J. Roberts Friday night. Since falling to Downingtown West on opening night, the Jags won nine games in a row en route to capturing their second consecutive Central League title. They lead all Delco teams in points scored (44.8) and total yards of offense (372.2) per game.

The Wildcats (8-2) placed third in the Pioneer Athletic Conference’s Liberty Division.

Haverford (8-2) is the 12th seed and will travel to No. 4 Spring-Ford. After an 0-2 start, the Fords have won eight straight decisions as they look to become the first team in school history to win a District 1 playoff contest.

Ridley (7-3) squeezed into the district tourney as the

15th seed and will take on No. 2 Central Bucks West (91). The Green Raiders, who are averaging 31.4 points per game, are 2-5 in playoff games since making the PIAA Class 4A semifinal round in 2009.

Chester (7-3), which enjoyed its first winning season in 11 years, finished 19th in the district power rankings. Hindering the Clippers’ quest for a postseason berth was a schedule that did not include one Class 6A opponent. All of Chester’s Del Val League brethren are Class 5A programs.

Academy Park (7-2) is the No. 3 seed and will host 14thseeded Oxford (4-6). The Knights clinched a share of the Del Val League crown with sixth-seeded Penn Wood (6-3), which welcomes

11th-seeded Radnor (5-5) to Kerr Field.

Fifth-seeded Strath Haven enters into the postseason tourney for the fourth straight year and will host No. 11 Upper Merion (5-5), which lost three of its final four regular season contests.

By virtue of defeating Radnor last Friday, Marple Newtown (7-3) locked down a first-round home game. The eighth-seeded Tigers welcome No. 9 Unionville to town for a rematch of a 2017 district semifinal which the Indians won, 36-21.

Chichester (3-6) hits the road as the 13th seed to play No. 4 Kennett (9-1), which finished in second place in the Ches-Mont League American Division. The Eagles and Blue Demons are meeting for the second time in 2019. On Aug. 30, Kennett rolled to a 37-12 victory.

Finally, Springfield takes its 3-7 record into the postseason to play top-seeded Cheltenham (9-1). The Cougars are one of six teams in the Class 5A tourney sporting a record of .500 or worse.

The seedings for all district tournaments will be made official Monday.
