O’Mara hosts veterans expo at Marple Library

State Rep. Jennifer O’Mara, D-165 of Springfiel­d, state Sen. Tim Kearney, D-26 of Swarthmore and U.S. Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon, D-5 of Swarthmore, will hold a veterans expo, open to all constituen­ts of the 165th Legislativ­e District, 11 a.m. to

1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Marple Library, 2599 Sproul Road, Broomall. The expo will feature dozens of government and nonprofit agencies, as well as local businesses who will provide veterans with informatio­n on how they can lead healthier and happier lives.

• The library will also present the Film Movement Series: every first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. with a first-run, award-winning independen­t and foreign film with English subtitles. November’s film is the drama :Un Traductor” in Spanish with English subtitles. No registrati­on is necessary.

• A Career and Resume Workshop will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13, at

Saunders will discuss his historical novel based on the Edwards family who once lived at Peterson Farm on Paxon Hollow Road in Broomall. Everyone is welcome.

• Essential Oil Class with Sandra Raikowski will be offered 1 p.m. Friday, Nov.

• Knitting Class with Jacqueline will be held Saturdays, Nov. 9 and 16 and Dec.

14, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon. The class is ideal for those who want to learn to knit. Materials will be provided for free.

• A “Lunch, Listen and Learn about Opera Carmen” will be held on Tuesdays: Nov. 5, 12, 19 and 26 from noon to 2 p.m. Attendees should bring their own brown bag lunch and the library will provide coffee, tea and dessert. Discuss and learn about the opera Carmen.

• Susan Mulvihill will lead a book discussion on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 1-3 p.m. to discuss the book “The Immortal life of Henrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot.

• People are also invited to a holiday wreath making class 1-4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21. There will be a small cost for materials.
