The Newtown Square Rotary, in partnership with the students of Marple Newtown High School, recently completed the “Contribute to the Jean Pool” clothing drive for the benefit of the Nana’s Attic Consignment Shop in Broomall. Eighty bags and boxes of clothes and household goods, and a kid-size toy car, were donated to Nana’s Attic.

All profits from Nana’s Attic are donated to the Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County.

According to Newtown Square Rotary President Jim Heller, this project is a rare 4-way win: Local residents can buy donated clothes and goods for lower prices at Nana’s Attic; The Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County receives all profits from the clothing sales; The students of Marple Newtown High School immersed themselves in a meaningful project that helps abused women; The Marple Newtown Rotary Club Members also contributed many bags and addressed this critical issue also, building community relationships along the way.Nana’s Attic is the operating thrift store of the Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County (DAP). DAP is a non-profit located in Media and provides free counseling, legal, outreach, and emergency shelter services to domestic violence survivors and/or their families. Last year, DAP answered over 5,000 calls on its 24/7 crisis hotline and provided emergency shelter to 56 women and 83 children. The sale of all merchandise at Nana’s Attic is source of unrestricted funds for DAP. DAP relies on the community who donates gently used clothing and household items to Nana’s for resale. DAP can direct the monies generated from Nana’s to fill critical funding gaps. Community partnerships like the Newtown Square Rotary Club’s clothing drive are essential for DAP to continue to provide free services to domestic violence survivors.

The Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County provides free crisis hotline, plus free legal, counseling and safe house services to victims of domestic abuse in Delaware County. DAP’s 24/7 hotline is always available at 610-565-4590.
