Upper Darby Performing Arts Center presents ‘Nutcracker’

The magic of The Nutcracker returns to the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center (UDPAC) for five shows November 22, 23 and 24, the weekend before Thanksgivi­ng. For more than a quarter century, the production by Narberth’s renowned Pennsylvan­ia Academy of Ballet Society has enchanted children and families with its profession­al soloists and many of the region’s best dancers.

Highlights of the 2019 show include spectacula­r new backdrops. It is family-friendly at 90 minutes in length, with intermissi­on, and recommende­d for ages four and up. Show times are Friday, 7 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.; and Sunday,

1:30 and 5:30 p.m. Pictures with the cast are available after both Saturday performanc­es, while the theater lobby is transforme­d into a winter wonderland featuring Nutcracker gift ideas at all shows.

Tickets for The Nutcracker are priced from

$10-$23 and may be purchased online at www.udpac.org or by calling the box office at 610-622-1189. Perkins Restaurant & Bakery on Lansdowne Avenue is sponsoring this year’s show and offering 10 percent off to all patrons with a Nutcracker ticket.

St. James alumni hold turkey drive

The Saint James Alumni Varsity Club II will hold its annual turkey and Thanksgivi­ng food drive 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21 at the Alumni Doghouse, 1499 E, 9th St., Eddystone. Turkeys can be dropped off during those hours and will be distribute­d to families in need in Delaware and Chester Counties, as well as the state of Delaware. Tax deductible donations can be made anytime. All checks should be made out to “St. James Alumni Associatio­n” and can be mailed or brought in person. Students from Saint James Regional Catholic School will be on site to help donors carry the donations of turkeys. Donors or those wanting to help with the turkey drive, can call 610-876-2006.

St. Joseph Church plans annual Christmas Bazaar

St. Joseph Parish, 3255 Concord Rd., Aston will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23. The event will feature flea market items, face painting, a raffle with over 75 gift baskets, toys, jewelry, books, baked goods, breakfast and lunch, pictures with Santa and more. O’Hara holds fall craft show

Cardinal O’Hara High School will hold its craft show 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday,

Nov. 24. The School is at 1701 Sproul Rd., Springfiel­d. The multi-day fair, which benefits the Cardinal O’Hara band, will host more than 80 vendors selling handmade arts and crafts. Additional­ly, there will be 50/50, basket raffle, baked goods, food and more

Grace Evangelica­l Lutheran Church holds blood drive

Brookhaven announces Christmas Parade route

The Brookhaven Parade Committee will kick off its annual Christmas Parade 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23. The family-friendly holiday parade will include bands, floats and acts with a Thanksgivi­ng or Christmas theme.

This year’s route will leave the Our Lady of Charity parking lot to Victor Ave., go right on Trimble

Blvd., left on Mt. Vernon, right on Chandler Dr. and right on Coebourn Blvd. to the grand stand to perform in front of Coebourn Elementary School. St. Timothy Church holds penny party

Eagles ticket raffle benefits St. Francis deSales Parish

A raffle for tickets to the Philadelph­ia Eagles vs. the Dallas Cowboys game 4:25 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22 at Lincoln Financial Field will benefit St. Francis de Sales Parish in Lenni. Tickets are one seat from center field,

eighth row. Only 200 raffle tickets will be sold at $50, giving buyers a one in 200 chance to win the tickets, valued at $1,000.

St. James Episcopal Church holds Canterbury Market

St. James Episcopal Church, 11th and Lincoln Ave. Prospect Park will hold a Canterbury Market 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday Nov. 30. Everyone is invited to celebrate the holiday season with a cookie walk, English tea room, book nook, handmade crafts, homemade baked goods, attic treasures and face painting for the kids. The market will also have a silent auction, children’s auction, and raffles. Visitors can enjoy a hot dog or hot toast beef sandwich.

St. Francis Over 50 Club celebrates turkey time

Saint Francis Over 50 Club in Springfiel­d will meet Thursday, Nov. 21, with hot turkey sandwiches and a Thanksgivi­ng theme.

Tickets for the Christmas luncheon on Dec. 12 at Drexelbroo­k will be on sale. Members may invite guests. This is the last meeting to buy a ticket.

Knights collect donations for St. Bernadine Center

Knights of Columbus Peace Council 4518 in Ridley Township is seeking donations of adult blankets and baby diapers for Saint Bernadine Center in Chester, a faith-based nonprofit organizati­on that provides food and shelter to low income families residing in Chester. Donated items can be dropped off on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7 to 9 p.m., at council hall, 1195 Haverford Road, Crum Lynne.

The Knights of Columbus Peace Council 4518 is a Catholic fraternal organizati­on located in Crum Lynne that is dedicated to performing charitable works in service to the community. On Sunday, Dec. 1, the council will sponsor a community breakfast at Saint Madeline’s in Ridley Park after each Mass between 8 a.m. and 12 noon. Meals will be served in their community center and tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children.

Media Fellowship House, in partnershi­p with First Church Media and the Media Food Bank, is hosting a Community Thanksgivi­ng luncheon 12 noon Saturday, Nov. 23 at First Church Media’s Fellowship Hall. Dunwoody Village holds holiday bazaar

Dunwoody Village will host its annual Holiday Bazaar on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The public is invited to attend. The bazaar features a wide array of items from which to choose, including unique handcrafte­d items, holiday decoration­s, attic treasures, costume jewelry, baked goods, house plants, and much more. Brunch will be available in Dunwoody’s Lincoln Dining Room between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The Bazaar is the culminatio­n of year-long preparatio­n by Dunwoody’s residents, who organize the event as well as collect and create the items to be sold.
