Johnson, Carr lead Sun Valley in the pool

Jenna Johnson and Olivia Carr won four events apiece to lead the Sun Valley girls swimming team to a 139-24 trouncing of Interboro Monday.

Johnson was victorious in the 200 medley relay, 200 individual medley, 200 freestyle relay and 100 backstroke. Carr claimed top honors in the 200 medley relay, 50 freestyle, 200 free relay and 100 breaststro­ke.

Nicole Ferracio was a triple-winner, taking first in the 100 fly while helping the medley relay and free relay to victories.

Boys Swimming

Josh Landis and Nick Fursman dominated the pool, taking home four wins apiece to power Sun Valley to a 130-24 rout of Interboro.

Landis and Fursman each participat­ed in the Vanguards’ winning medley relay and free relay. Landis triumphed in the 200 individual medley and 100 fly, while Fursman was successful in the 200 free and

100 free.

Also for Sun Valley, Timmy Gauzza led off the medley relay and was a member of the winning

400 free relay, in addition to taking first place in the

100 backstroke.

Boys Hockey

Morgan Bensel scored twice and goaltender William Graham made 16 saves en route to Strath Haven’s 5-2 ICSHL Central victory over Radnor.

Luke O’Connor had a goal and an assist for the Panthers, who outshot the Raiders, 53-18. Evan Spanier and Maxwell Riess each supplied a pair of helpers.

Andrew Knights led the way for Radnor with two goals.

LOWER MERION 9, PENNCREST 3 >> Kain Walker tallied a goal and an assist, but the Lions were outshot by the Aces, 53-27.

David Wilf recorded four ginos for the Aces.

Boys Basketball

Michael Hoey tallied a team-high 10 points in Springfiel­d’s 67-38 defeat at Wissahicko­n.

The Cougars stumbled out of the gates, falling behind 22-8 after one quarter.

Matthew Compas poured in 22 points, and Harrison Williams dumped in 15 for the winners.

Girls Basketball

Gabby Jackson’s two free throws broke a deadlock with eight seconds left in overtime and propelled Academy Park to a 71-69 nonleague victory over Cheltenham.

Jackson, who led all players with 22 points, scored five of AP’s seven points in OT. She flirted with a triple-double, dishing nine assists while grabbing seven rebounds.

Sierra Thomas posted career highs in points (20) and 3-pointers (five) for the Knights.

Freshman Semaji Young set a personal best with 11 points for AP.
