SPRINGFIELD » Police say they’ve arrested the woman but are still looking for the man they believe were involved in the theft of baby formula at a Target store in the Springfield Mall last week.

The theft caught the attention of the public because the man tossed the baby seat – with a baby still in it – before running from the store.

The woman has been identified as Lashonda McCullough, 30. Court records list McCullough’s residence as Johnstown.

According to police, McCullough and the still-unidentified man entered the Target store at the Springfield Mall. She was carrying a small child, and the man was carrying a baby seat with an infant inside.

Store security told police the couple was seen putting baby formula inside a backpack the man was carrying.

As the man attempted to leave the store, he was confronted by store security.

When the man was being taken back to an office, he tossed the baby seat with the infant still inside and ran from the store.

A short time later, a woman, believed by police to be McCollough, came back and picked up the infant before leaving again.

Earlier this week, Springfield police released security images from the incident and asked anyone from the public for help in identifying them.

Police said due to tips from the public, they were able to identify McCollough, and she was arrested. The man’s identity is still unknown, police said.

McCullough was arrested in Chester Dec. 18 and arraigned that afternoon. She was remanded to jail in lieu of 10 percent of $20,000 bail. Her next court appearance is in January.
