No Iran war!

All the problems with impeachment

- Ted Meehan, Newtown Erin Berg, Downingtown

To the Times: Reasons that Pelosi’s Impeachment is invalid.

1) The Constitution grants sole power to Impeach to the House of Representatives - not to the Speaker. The inquiry was started by the Speaker prior to any vote by the House.

2) Impeachment inquiries are to be conducted by the Judiciary Committee not the Intelligence Committee.

3) Impeachment requires due process. The kangaroo process that was conducted by partisan House Democrats disallowed representation to the President or his counsel. It prohibited witnesses for the defense. It violated House rules by disallowing Republicans to call witnesses.

4) For a month - before any House vote to open an inquiry - Adam Schiff interviewed parties in a locked room in the basement

of the House, leaking only parts of testimony that was deemed damaging to the President. During this process, Schiff instructed witnesses to not answer questions by Republicans.

5) Not a single fact witness, with any direct evidence, was interviewed. Of the hearsay witnesses who testified, NOT A SINGLE ONE accused the President of a crime - and every one of them directly testified that there was no crime.

6) Impeachment is the Constitutional remedy for “high crimes and misdemeanors”. No crimes are listed in the articles passed by the House.

The attempt to smear the President with a terminally flawed, partisan impeachment, will not stand up when examined in the Senate. It should and will be dismissed. It should be declared null and void due to its numerous technical flaws.

To the Times:

I oppose any and all escalation of conflict with Iran. Trump’s actions have had catastrophic consequences, and he will continue to be a danger to our national security and to the world if he is not held accountable and removed from office at once.

War with Iran is unnecessary and the Trump administration is too disorganized and incompetent to function. Americans are sick of living in fear for our lives, our loved ones, and the rest of humanity. I am sure our members of Congress are tired of dealing with this farce of an administration as well. I hope they will join their constituents in saying enough is enough! Trump and his enablers must go.
