Bears hire Radnor’s DeFilippo as quarterbacks coach
LAKE FOREST, ILL. >> Chicago Bears coach Matt Nagy made several changes to his staff Thursday, hiring Bill Lazor as offensive coordinator and Randor’s John DeFilippo as quarterbacks coach.
Dave Ragone (pass game coordinator), Brian Ginn (assistant special teams), Chris Jackson (assistant wide receivers) and Shane Toub (defensive quality control) received promotions.
Lazor, DeFilippo and Ragone will be tasked with helping Nagy get the most out of quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who seemed to regress this season in his third year after he was selected by
Chicago with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 draft.
DeFilippo, 41, has coordinator experience. He was the offensive coordinator for Minnesota during the 2018 season and had the same position with Jacksonville before he was fired Monday.
The Bears fired offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich after they went 8-8 this season.
Jags to interview Linehan for OC
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. >> The Jacksonville Jaguars plan to interview former Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Scott Linehan for their offensive coordinator job.
Linehan is scheduled to
meet with coach Doug Marrone this weekend. Linehan was out of the NFL this year after getting fired by the Cowboys following the 2018 season.
Marrone interviewed former Giants coach Ben McAdoo on Thursday. McAdoo
wants to get back into the league after a two-year hiatus.
The Jaguars are looking to replace DeFilippo, who lasted one season as offensive coordinator. Jacksonville ranked 20th in total offense and 26th in scoring under DeFilippo.
