WINTER ON BROAD TOPS WEEKEND EVENTS

Here are some events scheduled for this weekend throughout the region:

Winter on Broad Street: A Holiday Light Spectacula­r! opens Friday and runs through Jan. 3 at the Wells Fargo Center’s open-air lots, Philadelph­ia. The event will offer a holiday experience for visitors, beginning with a journey through 20-foot glowing baubles in the Ornament Orchard and luminous foliage in the Frosted Forest. Along the way, patrons can engage in Reindeer Games, indulge in s’mores around fire pits or head to Tinsel Towne Square for some live entertainm­ent. Food and beverage locations include Holiday Spirits, Claus’ Kitchen, Tinsel Towne Treats and the Broad Street Lodge, where guests can warm up with hot beverages and enjoy seasonal treats. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 5 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets can be purchased at WinteronBr­oadStreet.com.

• Holiday Excursions are up and running every Friday through Sunday at Colebrookd­ale Railroad, 64 S.

Washington St., Boyertown. The railroad’s award-winning Santa’s Polar Bear Express Trains and ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas Trains have been reworked this year to be both virus-conscious and kid-approved. Santa will be stationed on the open car where children can visit with him as well as give him their wish list. Compliment­ary hot cocoa and a cookie will be given to all passengers, and all children will be given a small keepsake item. • PHestivaL of Trees, a family drive-thru holiday event featuring 200 uniquely decorated holiday trees, live nativity scene, Hanukkah menorah, Kwanzaa imagery, 30-foot live decorated tree, light show and Santa, runs from Friday through Sunday at the Fairground­s at the Greater Philadelph­ia Expo Center, 100 Station Ave., Oaks. Proceeds will benefit not-for-profit animal rescues and shelters. The focal point of the event is the display and sale of holiday trees by local designers, artists, florists, individual­s, schools and community groups. Hours are 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 to

9 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are

• The Pottstown Area Artists Guild with Montgomery County Community College will hold the

2020 annual juried members Winter Art Show and Sale from Tuesday through

Feb. 8. Paintings, sculptures and photograph­y, some of it with a keen view of the pandemic and its impact on local artists, will be on display in this virtual exhibition. An online Awards Ceremony for the artists will take place Friday, Dec. 4, from 5 to 6 p.m. This ceremony is free and open to the public. • The Wilma Theater, Philadelph­ia, will stream its site-specific production of Will Arbery’s Obie Award-winning “Heroes of the Fourth Turning,” produced safely in a quarantine bubble, from Tuesday through Dec. 13. Arbery’s play, directed by Blanka Zizka, was captured in a secluded home in the Poconos. The play tells the story of four Catholic conservati­ve friends gathering at a late-night backyard party in Wyoming, shortly before the

2017eclips­e. As they wait for the arrival of their mentor, and newly appointed college president, secret passions and fears surface, revealing their troubled place in a divided country. Theater hosts Gary Hoey’s Ho Ho Hoey Rockin’ Holiday Tour on Friday at 5 and 8 p.m. and Saturday at 3and 8p.m. Hoey has been a driving force behind instrument­al rock Christmas music since 1995 after his version of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” hit the airwaves with its crunchy guitars and metal flavor. • Christmas at Colonial, a walk-through light show at Colonial Gardens,
